By the end of this year I would like to have graduated high school,
completed my WACE (Western Australia Certificate of Education)
and achieve an ATAR of at least 85 or over. To achieve this I need
to achieve a minimum scaled score of around 60% in my top four
subjects.
In January 2015, I would like to be accepted into Curtin University,
first round offers, to study either; Speech pathology, Occupational
Therapy or Social Work.
By the end of the year, I would like to have passed all my units
and enrolling into my second year of my degree.
Personal Skills
To achieve my goals, I need to use a number of personal skills to
get there, such as, stress-management, perseverance and
resilience. Year 12 can put quite a lot of stress on students to
perform at a high standard. To maintain focussed, my stress levels
need to be kept under control. Through the use of stressmanagement I can calm my self down during stressful times, and
learn how to balance my schoolwork.
Perseverance is an important skill to maintain through year 12. Its
fighting through difficult times and maintaining focussed on
whats important. Its constantly reminding myself of my goal of an
ATAR of 85+ and despite any struggles, I will carry on to success.
Resilience is the ability to bounce back after hardships. Resiliency
allows you to move on after receiving a bad mark and prepare
your self for the next assessment. Without resiliency, I would
fixate over one bad mark, and could lose confidence in myself. All
these skills will assist me in achieving my long-term goals.
By balancing high school and a part-time job over the years, I
have gained certain skills such as, time-management and
communication, which will assist me in achieving my long-term
goals. By attending school and work, I have learnt to manage my
time appropriately. This assists me in finishing all my set tasks on
time at a high standard. I have learnt to work effectively and to be
a punctual person. This will assist me in achieving my goals, as I
will be able to balance the work from all my subjects, and having
the time-manage to finish all my work on time. Working at
Antonios, has also assisted me in developing my communication
skills, with my co-workers and customers. This assists me
understanding instructions better, and being able to communicate
whether I understand or not. This ensures that I get the most out
of my classes and my teachers time. Both these skills have given
me the knowledge to be able to succeed to achieve my ATAR of
85 or above, by being able to balance my work appropriately,
using my time wisely and understanding what I need to do to
succeed in my subjects.

I could be faced with a number of challenges. Firstly distractions


such as, my mobile phone, the internet and personal life, could
get in my way. This could cause me to lose focus and result me
losing a large amount of study time.
As some of my subjects are quite demanding, such as dance, I
could become quite stressed from the workload. Dance has not
only the practical side, but also theory. This means two exams for
the one subject and double the assignments. Dance concerts and
performances can also take me out of school, and lose class time.
Another challenge that I may have to face is not being accepted
into my chosen course at the beginning of next year. Meaning I
will have to take a different pathway to achieving my long-term
goals.
To remain focussed while studying I need to eliminate distractions.
This includes putting my phone on silent and away while studying
and turning off the internet on my MacBook, if Im not using it for
my schoolwork. This will allow me to only be focussed on my
studying, without constantly stopping to check my messages.
Another distraction is my social life. I need to set rules that Im
not allowed to go out until my homework/study/assignment for
the weekend is finishing. This will give me a reason and
motivation to finish my schoolwork.
Another way to remain focused is to constantly remind my self of
my future goals. I could do this by putting a reminder on my wall
of my bedroom, or MacBook background etc. of what I want to
achieve in life. This will motivate me to strive towards it, and help
me stay focussed.

hurt my back again.
Also improving my
fitness will benefit me
in Physical Education
Studies and Dance.

I will achieve this goal by


setting my self an exercise
routine for each week. This
will also give me a break
from studying and a chance
to get some fresh air. I can
also have a diet plan, which
includes vitamins to help me
remain healthy.

P.E Teacher: My P.E Studies


teacher can assist me in
improving by giving me
feedback after each lesson,
and I can also ask him for
some extra drills to practice
at home.
Peers: My peers can also
assist me through feedback,
helping me during drills with
anything I don't understand.
They can also boost my
confidence so I can improve.
Mum (physiotherapist): My
mum is a trained
physiotherapist, has quite a
lot of knowledge when it
comes to a healthy lifestyle.
She educates me in what
vitamins I need to take and
what I need to do to keep
my back from getting bad
again.
Dance teacher: Part of our
course for certificate 2
dance is fitness and health.
We constructed a fitness
and diet plan in class with
the help of our teacher. She
guided us through choosing
the right foods and exercise
that will benefit our
lifestyles.
