Against GMOs
GMOs are chemicals used in food to enhance it for mass production. These
chemicals do different things to different produces. For example, the chemicals they
use for chickens cause them to be fatter and lazier. Doing this makes these chickens
extremely unhealthy because they lay in their own feces. In effect GMOs do not
help Americans but slowly destroy their immune system with the food they enjoy
eating. This is why experts and health advisors suggest having more organic foods
in your diet because GMOs, even though they make food last longer, do a lot of
damage to humans.
Studies have shown that GMOs have caused organ damage and immune
system damage to the animals that were injected with these genetic changes.
Studies have also shown that after GMOs were introduced in 1996, the percent of
Americans having three or more chronic diseases jumped from 7%-13% in 9 years.
During this food allergies increased and disorders like autism, reproductive
disorders and digestive problems began to become an even bigger problem in
human society. When GMOs were first brought up, producers were only thinking of
ways that their produces could be made at a mass production. Because of this they
werent expecting some the causes of such chemicals. As Nina states, Myths about
the dire effects of genetically modified foods on health and the environment
abound, but they have not held up to scientific scrutiny. And, although many
concerns have been expressed about the potential for unexpected consequences,
the unexpected effects that have been observed so far have been benign. Nina

explains how the diseases that were caused by these chemicals were not expected
at all.
GMOs do not only harm humans, but harm the environment they live in.
GMOs reduce bio-diversity, pollute water sources and are unsustainable. Herbs that
were grown off of the residue of chemicals from the GMOd plants have caused birth
defects in amphibians, embryonic deaths and endocrine disruptions, and organ
damage. This causes people to question just how safe are these chemicals that
used in the food that we eat. As Jeremy Rifkin asks, Many of the genetically
modified foods will be safe, I'm sure. Will most of them be safe? Nobody knows.
Because of the research being done to find out this question, many doubt the
reliability of these drugs. What makes things worse is that some scientists that do
in-depth research on these drugs are being silenced by the people who manufacture
them.
The primary purpose of GMOs is to decrease hunger and poverty in countries
and this may be the argument that many may say when trying to explain the good
in having GMOs. People have slowly realized that, By themselves, genetically
engineered crops will not end hunger or improve health or bolster the economies of
struggling countries. They won't save the sight of millions or fortify their bones. But
they will certainly help. (Michael Specter). GMOs are starting to cause more
damage to the people than prevent them from being malnourished. In the 2009
report Failure to Yield, it stated that crop yields had in fact declined and that the
GMOs had nothing to offer the goals of reducing hunger and poverty. It also stated,
Assessment of the technology lags behind its development, information is anecdotal
and contradictory and uncertainty about possible benefits and damage is

unavoidable. Showing that GMOs did not help but did the opposite and they do not
know how much damage these drugs will do in the long run.
GMOs, chemicals to enhance food for mass production, were generally a
breakthrough in science in finding the solution to poverty, hunger, and lack of food.
Studies have shown that GMOs do the exact opposite except for the lack of food
part. GMOs do damage to the human body, environment and do not help in the
fight against hunger and poverty. Animals are being induced with such drugs to be
eaten for the purpose of getting them ready early instead of letting them grow
naturally. More and more doctors and lifestyle experts propose to their patients to
go on organic diets because they know the damage the drugs do to the human body
and it is about time that we did something about these drugs so that everyone
knows about what their eating. Vermont, in fact, plans on passing a law that forces
producers and retailers to put labels on genetically modified produces so that
people can make better decisions on what they want to be eating. If all states do
this, diseases will decrease immensely and be easier to cure.
