LESSON DELIVERY (attach worksheets, examples, marking key, etc, as relevant)

Time
1:30pm

Motivation and Introduction:

1. Students are to sit at a table with a computer in front of them.
Students are told to not log onto the computer.

Resources/References
Align these with the
segment where they will
be introduced.

2. The teacher is to remind the students that over the past three health
lessons they have been looking at drugs and alcohol. Firstly the
students looked at the basics of drugs and alcohol, what the impacts
are of drugs and alcohol and where the students can seek help. The
teacher should ask students to give examples of each of these.
3. Students then looked at how the media influences the impact of drugs
and alcohol in society and especially the influence on youth. The
teacher should ask students to give an example and explain the
influence the media has on youth.
4. Lastly, the students looked at ways of saying no to drugs, alcohol and
smoking.
5. The teacher should explain that in todays lesson, the students will be
creating an online information page for other young people. The
teacher is to tell the students that they will be using Glogster to create
this page.

Glogster

6. To do this the students will be working in the same pairs as pixton.

7. The students are allowed to be as creative as possible. Students may
also include any information from the past three lessons. This
includes incorporating their pixton comic strip onto their page and also
their campaign video.
8. The teacher should then explain to the students that they will be
showing their page to the class at the end of the lesson.
9. Teacher shows a You-tube video of the importance of creating
information pages for other young people. Students are to watch the
video and think about how the education of drugs, alcohol and
smoking to young people is vital.

1:37pm

10. The teacher should ask the students why it is so important that young
people are educated about drugs, alcohol and smoking. Students
should be able to provide answers such as so that young people can
achieve their future goals.
Lesson Steps (Lesson content, structure, strategies & Key Questions):
1. The students are able to incorporate the video shown in class into
their information page. However they are allowed to choose whatever
they think is most suitable for their page.
2. The teacher is to get the students to work in the same pair as they
were in Pixton.
3. The teacher is to briefly show the students how to log on.
4. The students are then to pick an assignment layout. When picking the
layout, students must think about the amount of text, pictures and
videos they will want to include.
5. Students are to use the class Weebly to make sure that they include
all of the necessary information. On the Weebly there will also be
explicit instructions so the students will be able to work independently.
6. Whist the students are working, the teacher is to walk around the
classroom and make sure they are on task.

2:20pm

Lesson Closure:(Review lesson objectives with students)

1. The teacher is to get the students to stop what they are doing and
listen for further instructions.
2. The students are to turn their screens off so they are not a
distraction.
3. The teacher is to get a show of thumbs if the students have
finished their information page. Most students should be finished
at this point. If students have not finished they will be given time
to finish them in another lesson.
4. The teacher should then bring up a few students information
pages on the interactive whiteboard for the class to see.
5. Students should be able to state why they chose their particular
information for their page. For example, the students chose to
include the most relevant impacts for their age group.
6. The teacher should ask the class what the importance is of
creating an information page for other young people on drugs,
alcohol and smoking.

2:30pm

Transition: (What needs to happen prior to the next lesson?)

1. Students are to save all of their work.
2. Students are to then put their laptops away.
3. Students should then sit at their desks and wait for further
instructions.

- Students will be assessed on the objectives using a rubric.
