Flatpack
Link Surface Control Systems and Downhole Equipment

Halliburtons flatpack is the physical link between surface control

systems and downhole equipment in SmartWell intelligent
completions. Consisting of hydraulic and/or electronic control
lines, flatpack is available in a variety of different configurations to
suit the application and well environment. The specification and
materials are selected based on the well temperature/pressure and
wellbore fluids.

Single or multiple flatpack configurations are available to
facilitate control line installation and retrieval

A range of materials is available to suit the specific
downhole environment

The hydraulic control lines carry hydraulic fluid under pressure

to provide the motive force necessary to manipulate and control
downhole hydraulic SmartWell intelligent completion tools.

How Flatpack Works

The electric line or I-wire provides the conduit for electrical power
and communication between surface and downhole tools such as
Halliburtons Sensor Actuation Module (SAM ) tool or
permanent downhole gauge (PDG).

The control line specification, material, and encapsulation material is

chosen to suit the well temperature, pressure and wellbore fluids.

Mild steel cables (bumper lines) can be run through the length of
the flatpack to provide mechanical protection against crushing.

The hydraulic control lines are supplied flushed and filled with
water or oil-based fluid, typically to NAS class 6.
