Welcome to the Music Room, your weekly musical culture show! Today
we will be talking about folk music culture, and looking into its
impact on audiences and their lifestyles around the country. To do
this I will be interviewing Jared Walker, a multi-instrumentalist
who has been frequenting folk festivals his whole life.

In my section of the show, we will be discussing the songwriting
process, how a song is created and what the lyrics mean to their
writer and other people. We will also be looking at what it takes to
make it in the music industry, and how an album is distributed. I
will be talking to Steve Morano, a singer-songwriter from Reading
who has been playing music since he was nine years old.

Hi Im Darcey Tyrrell and Im on the site where Reading Festival is
held in the summer and later on I will be talking to Adam Lord about
the change from Reading Rock to Reading Festival and his personal
experiences with festivals.

Hello I am here in the studio with Jared Walker. Jared is an
extremely talented multi-instrumentalist, with a history of playing
with musicians throughout the folk music circuit in Oxfordshire and
Lincolnshire, where he was born. Currently studying at Oxford
Brookes University, Jared is now able to support a variety of folk
musicians in the Oxfordshire festival circuit.

Hi everyone! Im on the grounds of the Reading Festival at the
moment; a popular venue for young people to come after theyve
finished their summer exams, held on the August bank holiday. When
this field is in use, it can hold up to 87,000 people, with 8 stages
and music tents. Today Ill be talking to Adam Lords, about the
transition in from Reading Rock, to Reading and Leeds Festival, this
change heralded a wider range of genres to the originally rock based
festival.

and its really interesting to find out more about the history of

Thanks Darcey! Well Im here with Steve, and were going to be
chatting about his songwriting process, and how he brings together
the songs that are becoming increasingly popular in the Reading folk
and country scene. In addition were also going to be looking at how
he distributes his music and the appeal he finds in playing live.
Steve has been in various bands throughout his musical career, but
is currently playing as a solo artist, plus, hes been playing a
range of instruments since he was nine years old, when he started on
keyboard.
