The Future of the World of

Microbiology
Scientists have come up with a good plan. the
researchers at the Mayo Clinic in the USA doing
research about an approach called oncolytic virus
therapy to cure cancer. The viruses would enter the
body, through a vaccination.

A HIDDEN! WORLD !

So the doctors will give the patients a vaccination

that contains viruses that have been genetically
engineered to cure the cancer cell ,not the specific
illness which the virus usually bring, like measles.
In the future maybe some scientist will invent a new
microscope with more magnification so we can see
deeper in our body and discover more exciting things
about cells.

Microscopes
Without microscopes we wouldnt know
how the insides of our body work! A lot
of scientists use microscopes to see
organisms which are to small to see with
our naked eye. The scientist and
tradesmen Antoine van Leeuwenhoek
came from Delft, Holland. He invented
the first microscope with a
magnification of over
500x. The microscopes
were very small, the
biggest was about 5 cm
long. The microscopes
only worked, if it faced
the sun. He was the first
person to describe and
discover the
microorganisms by using
his microscope. He found
them in lake water.

A Hidden World - Conclusion

As you can tell know by reading this brochure there
is a exciting, very small and hidden world behind
our skin.
The most fascinating thing about cells for me is how
organised the cells are, how they know what to do,
and how they protect themselves from viruses..

CELLS

Without cells you wouldn't be here. There is

a hidden world behind your skin. Did you
know that you have about
120,ooo,ooo,ooo cells in your body,that
keep you alive? You want to learn about
Microscopes,The future of Microbiology,
Why cells are important, Micro-organisms &
Multi-celled Organisms, I Micro-organisms

work. Then read my brochure

Why are Cells Important?

The cells are important because they protect
and store our DNA. Also the cells makes up
our whole body! Without cells no organisms
would live. When you scratch your self guess
who repairs it?, the cells do!

Micro-organisms & Multi-celled

Organisms
Micro organisms are living things, which are to
small to see for the naked eye. You can find them
everywhere were there is liquid water.
Microorganisms are very important for our food
digestion and then recycling it in different ecosystems. They break down dead plant and animal
materials into nutrients which can be observed
ageing by plants. Without these nutrients the
plants would die. If that would happen ,that would
be a disaster because then there would also be
no more animals or people! Most Microorganisms
are unicellular or single celled for example: Algae,
bacteria, paramecium, and amoeba are all
unicellular.
The organisms that are made of more than one
cell or even million of cells are called multicellular
organisms. We are multicellular organisms.

Micro-organisms - Good or Bad?

There are good and bad microorganisms. You
usually find the good micro organisms in food or
medicine.
There are not a lot of bad Microorganisms, the
most common ones are fungi and bacteria.(Virus
is not a microorganism) If you are sick these bad
microorganisms are the ones that cause the
sickness.

Types of Cells in Us
There are a lot of cells in our body about
(120,000,000,000). Although there are a lot of
different cells in our body they mostly have the
common parts: a nucleus,a cytoplasm , and a
cell wall or membrane.
The most common types of cells are:
Blood cells
Muscle cells
Bone cells
Skin cells
Some cells, like the blood cells move a lot
around. Other cells like the muscle cells dont
move around because they are attached to
each other.

Find Your Way Around a Cell

A cell is made up of a lot of different parts, the
most known are: nucleus, cytoplasm, cell wall or
membrane, mitochondria, vacuole, and a
chloroplast.
The nucleus controls the cell functions, also the
DNA is stored inside. The cytoplasm is what holds
the cell together. The mitochondria is what
converts the food into energy. The cells are
protected by a cell wall or membrane. Only a
plant cell has a chloroplast ,because only these
cells can convert sunlight into food.

How do Cells Work

Cells are given instructions by the DNA. Without
these, the workers in the cell wouldnt know
what to do and how to do it. The DNA is copied
endless inside the nucleus, and then the
instructions are send out of the nucleus.

The mitochondria is also a big part of the cell. It

gives out the energy, and brings the proteins to
live. With the given instructions it starts to work
