Early Life
Born in Kosciusko, Mississippi Oprah was born to and unwed teenage mother and
lived with her grandmother. Oprah was raised on her grandmother's farm, while her
mom was looking for work, in this time from infancy to the age of six her
grandmother taught Oprah to read. By the age of three oprah was able to recite
bible verses and poems, her fellow church members thought of her as a gifted
child. But alas by the age of six Oprahs mother had found a job in Milwaukee, and
moved her to an apartment in the inner city. This is where she spent her days with
her family members and was abused and molested, this started at the age of 9 and
continued until the age of 13. When she was tired she tried to run away in which
earned her a trip to a juvenile detention home. Oprah was rejected from the home

The Becoming Of
When Oprah was 18 she became Miss Black Tennessee, but before that she
won Nashvilles Miss Fire prevention pageant. When she won this she was
offered a job reading afternoon headlines at a radio station. Oprah pageant
career soon ended when her news career and studies got into the mix. When
Oprah was 19 she became anchor of News station on the radio, and she left
her college studies to do this. Ten years later Oprah is cohosting AM Chicago,
and within months she has taking over and has become top rated in viewers.
The Oprah Winfrey show originated from AM Chicago, because AM Chicago
was renamed the Oprah Winfrey show when she took the town by storm.
I had the pleasure and honor of meeting herI actually ate her clam chowder at my
friend Maria Shriver's wedding shower. There's a picture from the shower where I'm
wearing one of those appliqud sweaters and Jackie's wearing a cashmere sweater and
an Herms scarfclassic, classic, classic. I look like 1985, and she looks like Jackie O.
Later, because she was a book editor, she called and asked if I would write a book. As
much as I loved Jackie O, I said no, I was not ready to do a book. But I said, "If you
ever want to do an interview..." and she said, "I probably will never do an interview."
So that was another one who got away.
And within the next year Oprah decided it was time for the long running show to end
and in 2011 on May 25 the show aired its last episode. The Most Iconic TV tak show
was finished but the host would be seen much more afterward.
