INTRODUCTION

Cooling, heating or re-heating of fluids, gases, or air

Allowsheatfrom a fluid (a liquid or a gas) to pass to a second

fluid (another liquid or gas)without the two fluids having to
mix together or come into direct contact

Petroleum refining processesare thechemical

engineeringprocesses and other facilities used in petroleum
refineries to transformcrude oilinto useful products such
asliquefied petroleum gas(LPG),gasoline or
petrol,kerosene,jet fuel,diesel oilandfuel oils

FUNCTION OF THE HEAT

EXCHANGER TUBE IN
PETROLEUM REFINERIES

To hold and contain the crude oil

To transfer the crude oil from one direction to another
To transfer heat effectively from one medium to another
which involve both heating and cooling process of crude
oil during the refining process of petroleum
To protect and avoid any direct contact of the crude oil
with the outer environment and hence eliminate
contamination
Able to resist corrosion due to the compounds exist in
the petroleum such as hydrocarbon, petroleum coke
and sulphuric acid

OBJECTIVE
To enhance the durability of the heat exchanger tube
while maintaining the cost.
