Steering Committee Process: how we will conduct our work

OBJECTIVE- Develop improvement recommendations for each
component of the focused instruction process
Each week, well explore a different part of the continuous improvement
cycle. After exploring current challenges and collecting your best
thinking around those challenges, we will use the input you provide to
bring you a recommendation at each meeting.
Week 1- PLANNING
Week 2- TEACHING
Week 3- ASSESSING
Week 4- ANALYZING
Week 5- COMPREHENSIVE RECOMMENDATION

Leadership Message- Focused Instruction

Sharing your message- 4 minutes
Identify one colleague whom you do not know and introduce yourself.
Once you identify your partner, each of you will take turns sharing your leadership pitch
about focused instruction and why it is important.
While you are listening to your partner, please make notes where you believe his/her points or
style are particularly strong (perhaps you want to incorporate these points into your own) as
well as places where you have questions or suggestions for improvement.

Feedback- 5 minutes
After your partner shares his/her message, take a moment to provide some feedback. Repeat
this process for each person.

Critical elements of message- 1 minute

Now that you have had the opportunity to share, give feedback, and receive some feedback,
lets talk about the critical elements of the message.
