college scholarship and enrolling at Purdue University in 1947 to study aeronautical
engineering for two years."

collage, but armstong got and amazing opportunity to earn a Navy College
Scholarship, and there he studied aeronuatical engineering for two years

Space Adventures

A. Moon Landing
Quotes: "The trio were launched into space on July 16, 1969. Serving as the missions
commander, Armstrong piloted the Lunar Module to the moons surface on July 20,
1969, with Buzz Aldrin aboard. For about two and a half hours, Armstrong and Aldrin
collected samples and conducted experiments. They also took photographs, including
their own footprints."
Paraphrasing: The trio launched into space on July 16, 1969. Armostrong was the pilot
and the commander. When they actually landed on the moon, Armstrong and Aldrin
spent over 2 and a half hours collecting samples and doing tests, also taking pictures,

B. Space Research
Quotes: "In 1966, he was selected as the commander pilot for the Gemini 8 flight into
space. He was accompanied by astronaut David Scott, and their mission was to dock
their command vehicle to a burned-out rocket stage, the first docking attempted in space.
However, while the docking was in progress, one of Gemini 8's rocket thrusters shortcircuited, and Armstrong was forced to undock and stabilize the command capsule so the
astronauts could return safely to Earth. "Another narrow escape for Armstrong occurred
in 1968. While training in a lunar module at Ellington Air Force Base near Houston,
Texas, the module suddenly went out of control. Armstrong, however, was able to
parachute to safety seconds before the module crashed and exploded. His numerous
brushes with death did not make him afraid of further travel in space. He once said, "I
have been in relatively high-risk businesses all of my adult life.... I have confidence in
the equipment, the planning, the training."
Comment: Armstrong has been through and tested many a aircraft for space travel
prposes, and has alowed scientists to take his tests and improve the craft, and create
better technology. This could also be an adversity for armstrong as of all of the near
death experiences while piloting these aircrafts.

Congress

A. Standing before Congress

Quotes: "He testified in Congress against President Barack Obama's decision to cancel
the Constellation program, which included another mission to the moon.Obama also

sought to encourage private companies to get involved in the space travel business and to
move forward with more unmanned space missions."
Comment: He did not want Obama to cancel the space program, as the country that is the
leader of space exploration, it wouldn't be very wise to stop all of the progress that we
have made. He thought that we should continue on creating maned space craft and maned
missions to the moon and beyond, to explor our solar system.

B. Standing before Congress Continued

Quotes: Taking this new decision, Armstrong said, would cost the United States its
leadership position in space exploration. "America is respected for its contributions it has
made in learning to sail on this new ocean. If the leadership we have acquired through
our investment is simply allowed to fade away, other nations will surely step in where we
have faltered. I do not believe that would be in our best interests,"
Paraphrasing: Canceling the space program would cause the United States to lose its
leadership in space exploration, and also that we are repected by achieving this as a
country. If we just simply allow our leadership and achievments that we have aquired
through our great investment (LOTS OF MONEY) to just go away, other countries will
surly come and fill in where we have left, and that is definatly not in our best interest.
