Library Mission:
The mission of the Ideal Middle School Library Media Center is to ensure that students are
effective users of the library media centers resources and technology. It is the goal of the library
media center to provide students with a variety of materials, up-to-date technology, and a
knowledgeable staff. Using research-based practices, the library media center will inspire a love

Policies:
1) Checkouts and Overdue Books:
Checkouts: Students may check out two books at one time. Students may exchange books
as needed and may keep their books for up two weeks. After two weeks, if the student
needs to renew their books, they must bring them back to the library to be scanned.
Books can be renewed twice before needing to be returned to the library.
Overdue Books: If a student has an overdue book, they may not check out another book
until it is returned to the library. Students will receive an overdue notice via the classroom
teacher when their book is one week overdue. They will receive another notice the

following week. After another week, the third notice will be sent directly home to the
parent/guardian.
Lost Books: If a student has lost a book, they have two choices: 1) replace the lost book
or 2) pay for a replacement (money will be returned if book is found). Other
arrangements may be made for families with financial difficulties. Students will not be
able to check out another book until the lost book situation is resolved. (Schuylerville)
