allcannamethecolorIshowyou!AsIholdupanotecardwithacoloronit,Iwantyouto
raiseyourhandtotellmewhatcoloritis.Teacherwillholdupdifferentcolornotecardscalling
oneachstudent(preferablyadifferentstudenteachtime)untilallofthecolorshavebeen
identified.

whenyoulookoutsidethewindow,orwhenyourideinthecar,attheplaygroundor
inthegrocerystore?Raiseyourhandifyoucangivemeexamplesofcolorsyousee
athomeorotherplaces.Teacherwillcallonstudentstoshare.Verygood!Todaywe
aregoingtolearntonamethecolorsofdifferentobjectsweseeallthetime!First,I
amgoingtoreadyouabookaboutseeingcolorsallarounduseachdaycalled
LemonsAreNotRed.TeacherwillreadLemonsAreNotRedanddiscuss.See
howthebookusesfullsentencestotellwhattheobjectisanditscolor.Lemonsare
yellow.TeacherwillgobackthroughandidentifytheobjectanditscolorSeehowI

aregoingtotellme,Thefiretruckisred.Iwantyoutotellmewhattheobjectis
andwhatcoloritis;justlikewedidinthegrocerystoreusingfullsentences,notjust
oneword!Teacherwillgoaroundthetableaskingeachindividualstudenttoidentify
thenameoftheobjectanditscolorusingasentence.Theteacherwilldothisuntil
eachstudenthashadtheopportunitytoidentifyatleasttwoobjects!
ClosureYoualldidawonderfuljobnamingthecolorsofdifferentobjectswesee
everyday!Nowwhenyougohome,Iwantyoutopracticenamingthecolors.Ifyou
seeabluebook,saythatbookisblue!Orifyouseearedcar,saythatcarisred!Itis
soimportantthatwecantellwhatcolorsarewhich!Iamsoproudofeachofyoufor
beinggoodlistenersandworkerstoday!

isabletoidentifythecolor/objectonhisowntheteacherwillhavethestudentrepeattheanswer
topracticearticulation.

ExtensionStudentVandMwillwalkaroundtheroomidentifyingdifferentobjectsand
itscolor.
DataAnalysis:
Eachstudentwasabletoidentify2differentobjectsandtheircolorsbystatinga
completesentencewithoutprompting.Thecontentwasanewconceptforthestudents,butusing
repetitionandavarietyofexamples/nonexamplesmadetheactivityaccomplishable.As
expectedStudentBhaddifficultyarticulating,butwhenaskedtorepeathisstatementshewas
louderandclearerwithhisarticulation.

Reflection:

ThislessonwentbetterthanIhadanticipated.Thestudentswerecapableofspeaking
morethanIthoughttheywere.Ilearnednottounderestimatewhatthestudentscandoorwhat
theylearnveryquickly.ChangesIwouldmakewouldbetohavesomesortofhandsonportion,
althoughthelessonwasshortinordertoholdtheirattention,Ithinkmanipulativesworkvery
wellforPreKespeciallyforthestudentswhoneedhelpwithfinemotorskills.Ilearnedthat
planningfordifferentiationtakestimeandplanninginordertoreallyincorporatethebestwayto
helpastudentlearnthewaytheyneedto.
