Dear Parents and Guardians of Ms. Hansleys K-5 Class,

Thank you for the warm welcome when I joined your childs class two weeks ago as a student
teacher. I am from Regent University where I am studying Elementary Education with an
emphasis in K-5 through 6th grade. I will be a part of your childs education until April 24th.
While at Regent, I have gained practical experiences through observing in 5th, 2nd, 1st and K-5
classes and student teaching a 4th grade class. For the past year and a half, I worked for Calvary
Classical School in Hampton as a K-3 and K-4 aide and childcare provider. I am a member of a
large family. I have four younger sisters and four younger brothers, my father is retired military
and my mother was a teacher before home schooling my siblings and me. I enjoy reading and
travelling.
I grew up in a Christian home. As my father was in the military we moved often. Through these
transitions God was one of the few constants in my life. This allowed me to learn about His
faithfulness and constancy. As I matured I realized the importance of trusting in God and leaning
on Him alone for my salvation. My faith deeply influences my philosophy in the classroom. God
is the creator and author of all things, He should be central in our understanding of the world and
how it works. Not only does our knowledge of God shape the context in which academic content
is presented, but it also encourages us to do our best to learn.
I am happy to answer any questions you may have. I am excited to be a part of your childs
education over the upcoming weeks!
Sincerely,
Jennifer King
