Q10: Please enter general comments below related to your observations.

I observed Jennifer conducting a Language Arts lesson. The lesson included a teacher-read aloud, review of
contents, guided practice of analyzing text for author's purpose, and independent practice.
Q11: What went well:
Jennifer gave students "think time". She clearly established student behavioral expectations before the activity.
She demonstrated effective classroom management strategies.
Q12: What could be done differently:
She should help students to "discover" the answer through further questioning and hints rather than supplying
the answer.
Q13: Candidate's strengths:
Jennifer demonstrated a great use of visuals throughout the lesson (e.g. pictures in the book, word strips,
white board, etc.). She met the needs of varied learning styles.
Q14: Areas that need refinement:
She should pick up the pace of the lesson. She should call on boys and girls equitably.
Q15: Focus for next observation:
I will focus on pacing of the lesson and looking to see if Jennifer helps students to "discover" the correct
answer.
