Peoria, AZ 85383 623-299-5541 meseth@asu.edu March 20th, 2015 Dr. David Treiman Neurology Research Director St. Josephs Hospital & Medical Center 350 W Thomas Road Phoenix, AZ 85013 Dear Dr. Treiman, I learned about your recent research technician opening in the Epilepsy Research Lab at St Josephs Hospital from the Dignity Health careers page online, and I would like the opportunity to discuss the position further with you. I admire St Josephs national recognition in the fields of high-risk obstetrics, neuro-rehabilitation, orthopedics and epilepsy research, amongst other notable achievements. Based on your companys mission statement about caring for the poor and under deserved, I believe my health care exposure and experience with Phoenix area clinics serving the homeless and those in poverty will allow me to strive within a career with St Josephs. Moreover, my previous experience with epilepsy and neuro research at Arizona State University will benefit both myself, and the laboratory, allowing me to bring a different perspective in order to contribute positively and significantly to the laboratory team. I am confident that my background and skills in research techniques will prove to be an effective match for your qualifications. I have had a great deal of laboratory experience in neuroscience as well as general chemistry and biology. In the lab, I have performed subject tests to determine scent preferences (an independent study for a fragrance company) and I am currently analyzing the EKG data associated with these trials. While working for Dr. Burleson at Arizona State University, I successfully applied my research skills and worked closely with the subjects and data being studied. I supported the research in completing assigned experiments, subject testing, and recorded and analyzed massive amounts of EKG data. This experience gave me the opportunity to work closely with a team of researchers, and helped me to understand the importance of good lab practice. My research experiences have been positive ones due in part to my interpersonal skills. I am reliable, organized, and enthusiastic to learn. I am sure that I will carry over the same enthusiasm and skill in doing research at your institution. A In addition to the above, I have excellent spoken and written communication skills. I am proficient in SPSS statistical software, MS Office, EKG Scorer and several other research programs. I can handle and protect sensitive and confidential data with integrity. I can work alone or in a team (as per the demand of the project), and I can easily complete
