Greetings, Parents!
I am so excited to be your childs Language Arts teacher! I would love to take this opportunity to
introduce myself, my expectations for your student, and my hopes and goals for this academic
year!
My name is Kendra Nielsen and I graduated from Arizona State University with a BA in
Secondary Education with a concentration in English. I grew up in California and moved here to
Arizona for college. I am looking forward to being a part of the rich community that surrounds
us.
It is my goal to provide your child with the opportunities and resources needed to help them
build their listening, speaking, reading and writing skill. I will be exposing my students to
literary pieces from a variety of authors and genres, emphasizing analysis and deep
understanding. I will challenge them to build their critical thinking skills by engaging with a
range of texts and activities.
It is my hope that your son or daughter will feel that his or her unique ideas and perspectives are
valued in my classroom. I welcome feedback from my students and their parents in order to
structure an effective classroom environment for all of my students. If you have any questions or
