Students box (items in there box scissors, glue, crayons), glitter, bucket, soap, sink,
paper towel, and two tables.

Challenge: Children may not be able to get all the glitter off their hands. Not
every area has a sink that is easily available.

Fine Arts

Proactive Measure: For students who are not able to glitter off their hands. I will
make sure the water is warm and then watch them as they wash their hands to make
sure they wash the back of their hands too. If the glitter is still on their hands I will
give them a towel to wipe off the glitter. If there is no sink that is available I will
bring in a bucket of warm water and some hand wipes.

After our morning circle time, retain the students, they will be sitting on the circle
rug and I will ask them what are germs? I will explain that Germs are group of tiny
invaders that can make our bodies sick. Our bodies are pretty amazing, day after day;
they work hard digesting food, pumping blood and oxygen, sending signals from our
brains and much more. Germs are so small and sneaky that they creep into our bodies
without being noticed. This is why we have to wash are hands with warm water and

soap. I will put olive oil, glitter, and a container to catch excess glitter, and paper towels
on the table. If you have the color ___ on please go to one table. If you have the color
___ on please go to table two. One person in each table will put a small amount of olive
oil on their hands and they spread the oil all over the front and back of your hands. This
is what happens when we sneeze in our hands. Then they held their globby hand over a
container and I sprinkled glitter generously all over their hands. The glitter represents
germs. Now shake hands with each person at your table. Next, I gave a paper towel to
each one and tell them to wipe off the glitter. The students will notice it is very hard to
