Title: Harnessing the EdTech Ecosystem: EdTech Professional Development Conference

Date: April 18 from 8am-12:30pm (total of 3 CE hours) @ USF SOE 110
USF's Digital Technologies for Teaching & Learning program presents real-life solutions to everyday
challenges in the classroom. We will explore ways to use Webquests to differentiate instruction, harness
social media and other technologies to engage students in learning, elicit student stories with digital
storytelling, and use free tools like Google Earth and iBooks Author. We will also be explaining how
assistive technologies can help students with special needs to excel, and demonstrating how blending
learning and hands-on coding works in real classrooms. We'll introduce you to innovative iPad apps for
assessment and to tools for creating digital portfolios that put student learning in the spotlight. We'll
even show you how to create your very own makerspace in your classroom. Keynote presentation by
Ramsey Musallam, Ed.D., USF School of Education. This workshop is for K-12 Educators, USF students,
faculty and staff.
Title: Teaching and Learning After the Death of a Student
Date: May 16 from 9am 1pm (total of 4 CE hours) @ USF SOE ED 101
Teachers have the profound responsibility of not only educating their students, but also handling student
trauma and death. To address these challenges, we have created an interactive and experiential
workshop for educators to appropriately support students and families, explore their own experiences,
garner support from their peers and community, and further instill meaning into their professional
identities and responsibilities. Presented by Rick Ayers, Assistant Professor, Cori Bussolari, Associate
Professor, USF School of Education. This workshop is for K-12 Educators and School Counselors.
Title: Theory, Evaluation and Use of Assessment
Date: May 20 from 4pm 7pm (total of 3 CE hours) @ USF SOE ED 102
This workshop will provide education professionals with a background in psychometric theory that will
enable them to make informed judgments on specific assessment practices in school contexts, as well as
to contribute to the larger conversations about the role of testing in education. Presented by Isabel Nunez,
Associate Professor, USF School of Education. This workshop is for K-12 Educators and School Counselors
