Second Chances Bibliography

Battle, Christina E. "Second Chances." Personal interview. 25 Feb. 2015.

Christina Battle is a graduate of Central Piedmont Community College. She is also a

published author, who dedicates her time to working with inner- city youth of Charlotte. She
has also assisted in working with young girls including participating as a leader for YMCA
girl's retreat, 6th grade youth leader for Carmel Baptist Church and has assisted Harbor
Baptist Church.
I interviewed Christina because she understands second chances and experience one her.
Although she finds second chances wonderful, she has seen them missed use and taken
advantage of. Second chances are wonderful if used correctly. It is arguable that second
chances can be pointless if misused. But second chances in themselves aren't bad but
maybe the person receiving them is.
I trust Christina opinion on this because she is human and she talks about her human
experience with second chances. I feel as though anyone can truly talk about second
chances. She also has truly experience that, which in my opinion makes her a useful
source.

Etzioni, Amitia. "Second Chances, Social Forgiveness, and the Internet."

Search.proquest.com. the American Scholar, Apr.-May 2009. Web. 25 Feb. 2015.
Amitia Etzioni is an Israeli sociologist. He is an immigrant from Germany. Amitia has study
at multiple universities which include, University of California, Berkeley, Columbia University,
and Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Not only has he authored more articles from his
sociological studies, he is also an award winning author. Some of his books include The
Golden Rule, Moral Dimension, and From Empire to Community. He his held in very high
esteem by his colleagues and the sociology world.
Amitia Etzioni in this article makes talks about how Second chances use to actually make a
difference. However now in our media age, with just one simple search of a person on
google you can know someone's past. In doing this we begin no longer allow someone to
start fresh and new but rather hold them back to their past in which they are escaping.
When we do this we take away the purpose of second chances and the beauty of it and
replace with judgement and insecurities.
I would definitely say Mr. Amitia Etzioni is credible because he is a trusted source of
knowledge in sociological community. He has numerous awards for his work and research
including Fellowship at the Social Science Research Council, The Lester F. Ward
Distinguished Contributions Award in Applied Sociology, Officers Cross of the Order of Merit
of the Federal Republic of Germany, John P. McGovern Award in Behavioral Sciences,
these are some of his ten awards he has received. However, he studies human behavior for
a living and has been on this earth for eighty- six years! Has lived through Both world wars,
great depression and the civil rights movement. I believe his more experience viewpoint on
life is credible in and of itself.

Purnell, Tiffany S. "Second Chances." Personal interview. 29 Feb. 2015.

Tiffany Purnell is a Nursing student mother of three. She is constantly helping young inner
city teens and counseling them.
In this interview explains the greatness of second chances. She herself like many single
mothers also was given a second chance at getting education and better herself and the
lives of her children.
Tiffany is usable source because she is relatable. Her life experience to me is just as
important for this understanding as just education. She embraces second chances and she
use them constantly.

Taylor, Pamela G., DR. "Second Chances." Search.proquest.com. Art Education, May 2007.

explains that this a new way of life for everyone. This offers a new world of second chances.

also won many awards including Edwin Ziegfeld award in 2012, Distinguished Fellow in
2011, Higher Education Art Educator of the Year in 2010. Just to name a few. However her

artistic and new age look at life breathes in as a fresh new perspective to this topic of
Second Chances.
