Principles

Equality- Treat all human beings the same, regardless of difference. Everyone is unique
and diverse in many ways. Its human behavior to judge one another, but there is the
Golden Rule to follow that one should treat others as one would like others to treat
oneself. A friend of mine once said I greet and give the same respect to the CEO and the
janitor.
Gratitude- Be grateful of what you have and what is to come. Gratitude may bring more
joy and abundance to our lives. Everything in life is worth exploring, whether its the fact
that you can walk and run, or breathing on your own without the help of any
equipment. Gratitude reminds you to be thankful for the wonderful things in your life.
Be of Service- Being of service helps you feel connected. The self-esteem that comes
from reaching out and helping other people is invaluable. It gets you out of your own
head and helps you not feel overwhelmed by problems or other concerns. We make a
living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give. Winston Churchill
Adaptation- Whether its working in teams, group projects, new projects, or even
training clients in the field it is important to adapt to changes or meet a specific need.
Happiness- Dr. Martin Seligman defines happiness as the emotion that arises when we
do something that stems from our strengths and virtues. Other definitions suggest that
happiness is when all of your physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual needs have been
met. Happiness can exist in your life when you remove things such as stress, anger, fear,
and negative thinking.
Laughter- Laughter is good for your health. It is a powerful antidote to stress, pain, and
conflict. Laughter can strengthen your immune system, boost your energy, and is a
strong medicine for mind and body. Your sense of humor is one of the most powerful
tools you have to make certain that your daily mood and emotional state support good
health.
Truthfulness- Speak your own truth and give people the opportunity to truly know who
and what you stand for. Tell your truth and embrace who you are. We live in fear of
what other people will think or say about us, but do you really want those kinds of
people in your life today?
Balance- Balancing work and play. We should take our leisure time as seriously as our
work time.

Values

Freedom- Freedom can mean many things. It emphasizes the opportunity given for the
exercise of ones rights, powers, or desires. When the word freedom comes to mind it
makes me think about my parents. They had to escape their own country, cross the river
in a boat to be arrested. Once they arrested they were put in a refugee camp and had to
wait for sponsorship to get into the United States. By coming to the United States they
had escaped communism for a better life.
Family- Our family values are to take care of one another, strive to do our best, and to
make good choices. Our Grandparents always want to do their best in helping out each
other no matter the condition. They want what was best for their children and the next
generation. This will continue on with my own family and Im hoping it will cause a
ripple effect to each generation.
Health- Personal health is one of the most valuable things you possess. I am grateful to
be free of any disabilities or disease so far. When we are in our teens and 20s the
majority of us are not as concerned with our health. As we get older there is a possible
risk for a disease, therefore, it is important to maintain a healthy lifestyle by taking care
of your health internally and externally.
Education- Education can tie into my family values. My grandfather had always wanted
me to be a doctor. My grandparents and parents believe education is worth the
investment and that I should get a degree so life wouldnt be how they had worked and
grew up. I am grateful of all the financial aids and scholarships that I have received to
finish my Bachelors degree and hope to continue my education in the future.
Respect- To get respect you have to earn respect. Respect is the ability to see and
celebrate the value in ourselves and others. Ive learned respect by valuing others and
by the people in my life. Self-respect is at the heart of respecting others.
Honesty- Always be honest was the answer I got when I asked an elderly man on life.
Honesty is the foundation upon which a person builds any relationship with loved ones
such as family or friends. It can make people feel trustworthy and expose their true self.
Honesty also helps me conquer problems and excel in life.
Kindness- Kindness is caring for others and can also be discussed in terms of time. The
kindness to volunteer, help someone on the side of the freeway or even the kindness in
a smile can make someones day that much better.
