1. Q: How did you become interested in this career?
A: I became interested when some of my family members were having health problems and
wouldnt know or do anything to make their health better.
2. Q: What are the aspects of this career that you like?
A: I like the fact I get to know different people every day and help them. Just by the way of
how they thank me brightens up my day because I know I made a difference.
3. Q: What are the aspects of this career that you dislike?
A: Some aspects I dislike is receiving really rude patients. Sometimes they start offending
you.
4. Q: Which classes or training did you take in college?
A: I went to Kaplan College and took Medical Assistant classes. We took CPR classes and
got a certificate.
5. Q: Is there opportunity for advancement in this career field?
A: Yes there is an opportunity for advancement. You can take classes for Registered Nurse or
classes as an X - Ray Technician. Some X - Ray Technician would help the Medical
Assistants doing injections and drawing out blood. Also you can take classes for Phlebotomy.
6. Q: Can you describe your daily work?
A: I used to work at Vista Community Clinic. My daily tasks were to greet the patients I
would take back, verify their last name as well as their date of birth. While doing that I let
them know what I will be doing such as checking their height and weight, checking their
blood pressure and pulse, and their oxygen level. After that I ask them questions on the
computer for example if they are still using the same medications or allergic to any. If Im

receiving a diabetic patient, I check there glucose and A1C level. If they dont know what an
A1C level is, then I explain to them it checks there sugar level for the past 3 months.
7. Q: Which skill do you think is the most important to perform for this job?
A: The most important skill I would say is having a lot of patience because sometimes you
have patients who wont cooperate with you.
8. Q: What do you do to keep your skills current?
A: What I do to keep my skills current is read over some of the basic information from my
books I got from school. I also ask for feedback with my coworkers who have more
experience at my job.

9. Q: If you were hiring a person for this job, what would you look for?
A: I would look for a person who is friendly, who has patience, and who works well under
pressure and in a fast paste.
10. Q: What one thing would you do differently in regards to your career?
A: I would say to i would have gone to school way earlier then deciding to go 1 year later.
Other than that Im glad where Im at.
11. Q: What is your advice for someone who is interested in this field?
A: My advice for someone in this career would be to not be scared of needles. In this field
you do a lot of injections, but in school we practice on one another. Also I would say you can
accomplish anything if you set your mind to it.
