Learning Contract
Knowledge Goals
1.) Build relationships with 4-year public schools to aid students in their transfer
process
a) Observe and network during Completion Week along with my field
supervisor
b) Discuss these connections and how they are made with my field
supervisor
c) Read agency material on the current relationships they have with 4-year
public colleges
Assessment: Meet with field supervisor immediately after Completion
Week and de-brief about what I have learned. Receive direct feedback on
networking which will allow me to reflect on my strengths of building relationships
and how this could help the Transfer Success Center. Recruit more attendees for
Transfer Week then the year before. (30+)
2.) Increase familiarity of ways to support transfer students
a) Work with students with different transfer needs
b) Shadow peer mentors in one-on-one sessions with transfer students
c) Attend events that discuss the transfer process-transfer sessions and
campus events
Assessment: Meet with field supervisor once a week to go over any
challenges faced when working with transfer students. Meet with fellow peer
mentors to discuss the quality and benefits of a one-on-one. Apply knowledge
gained from events and apply to student services-receive feedback via student D2L
Quiz results.
Skills Goals
1.) I want to improve my oral presentation skills
a) Shadow my field supervisor and other peer mentors as they give oral
presentations

b) Co-facilitate an oral presentation


c) Give an oral presentation is several forms; a class presentation and
transfer sessions
Assessment: Meet with field supervisor or fellow mentors to de-brief after
my first oral presentation and ask for immediate feedback on my facilitation. Also,
meet and de-brief after my second oral presentation, giving me direct feedback, so I
am able to compare and contrast my abilities and allow room for improvement. Use
D2L data to evaluate student comprehension of oral presentation-receive feedback
from Student Interest Cards.
2.) Enhance ability to be creative in the workplace
a) Read and evaluate past creative projects in the agency
b) Take the lead/initiative on Five creative projects
c) Create, present, and reflect on at least five projects with field supervisor
Assessment: Immediately after five of the projects are created, presented
to field supervisor, I will get feedback on my performance to deliver a creative yet
workplace appropriate piece of work. The experience of creating, developing, and
feedback will develop an honest and fair evaluation of my own performance that
recognizes my strengths as well as areas for improvement.
3.) Improve active listening skills
a) Observe active listening with field supervisor when she meets with
students one-on-one
b) Have a mock session with a peer mentor to exercise my active listening
skills
c) Attend five professional developments to further develop my active
listening skills
Assessment: Immediately after one-on-one meeting, reflect on her skills of
active listening to identify ways I can support students. Survey the peer mentor on
my active listening skills and identify my strength and weaknesses. Reflect on
professional development with a reflection paper on my experience that I gained
from the event.
Values and Attitudes
1.) Become aware my leadership style and values within that style

a) Inform new employee and staff members during Transfer week


b) Take Myers Briggs and Strength based test provided by the Career
Developmental Center
Assessment: Reflect on the demonstration of leadership style and skills
learned by supervisor supervision. Reflect on my responsibilities when put in the
leadership role and discuss with supervisor on ways to improve or maintain. Learn
and reflect on the Testing done by the Career Developmental Center
Personal Goal
1.) I want to become more familiar with the higher education system to further
my career in Higher Education
a) Research higher education departments
b) Meet and network with ten other higher education role models
c) Discuss with field supervisor and department head on their journey
through Higher Education
Assessment: Research and create a list of graduate school information.
Reflect on field supervisor and department head of the agencys journeys and share
my ambition and determination to further my education through an E-portfolio.
Create a resume built towards Higher Education and submit for recognition in the
field of student affairs.
