On April 9th we will be celebrating Diwali as a class! Diwali is about community and strengthening that community through faith and celebration. You will be required to divide yourselves into five groups. Your group must be prepared to give a brief description of what your day in Diwali celebrates as well as 1-2 items representing your assigned day.

On Thursday April 9th we will be celebrating Diwali as a class! Diwali is about
community and strengthening that community through faith and celebration. In honor of Diwali this celebration requires full participation from each member of this class! You will be required to divide yourselves into five groups. I will come around and assign you a specific day in Diwali. On April 9th, in your groups, you will be placed at a station representing each day of Diwali. Your group must be prepared to give a brief description of what your day in Diwali celebrates as well as 1-2 items representing the day of Diwali that you have been assigned. Be prepared to discuss why your items are significant to your assigned day. I would suggest researching your given day to give you ideas! Be creative. As this is both a celebration and assessment of your knowledge it is a pass/fail assignment. Everyone will get a chance to visit each "day" of Diwali and you will all have a chance to present to your peers. We will discuss how this will work next Wednesday. Have fun with it! Note: I will be bringing lights, and an Indian desert known as Baarfi (it tastes better then it sounds) - you can still include lights and food. Diwali is all about extravagance!
