WHEREAS, it has been observed that there is an alarming increase in heart ailments and the vietims therewith are getting younger every yea WHEREAS, such ease can be attributed to the unhealthy diet and lifestyle of the youth; WHEREAS, the Philippine Heart Association pushed for a formula to prevent and fight heart ailments which is knovin as the “52-100 formula” which stands for 5 servings of fruits and vegetables, not more than 2 hours of television and computer sereen time, 1 hour of exereise, 0 sugared beverages and soda and 0 smoking; pio,Res. No. $74-2015 Page 2 WHEREAS, it is by this august Body's belief that by following this formula, millions of pesos ean be saved against medical operations involving the heart and other vital organs inthe body; WHEREAS, this august Body finds it imperative to request DepEd atid CHED t0 direct all schools in the province to spread awareness regarding heart diseases and to ‘encourage them to follow the 52-100 formula; WHEREAS, Section 16 of the 1991 Local Government Code of the Philippines provides that “Every Local Government Unit shall xx promote (the) health and safety vexx oftheir inhabitants"; NOW, THEREFORE, on motion of Majority Floor Leader/Auhor, Hon. ARLEIGH JAY C. SITOY, duly seconded by Presiding Officer Pro Tempore, Hon. JULIAN B. DAAN, be it RESOLVED as it is hereby RESOLVED, to request the Department of Education, (DepEd) Region 7 and the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Region 7 to direct all schools in the Province of Cebu to spread awareness regarding congenital heart diseases and to encourage students to follow the “52-100 formula” suggested by the Philippine Heart Association; RESOLVED FURTHER, that copies of this resolution be furnished to the Depertinent of Education Region 7 and the Commission on Higher Education Region 7, {or their information and appropriate action. ‘CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY. -000- Thereby certify to the correctness of the afore-quoted resolution.
