Topic: Anxiety disorder in adolescents
EQ: How can we increase public awareness and identification of adolescents with anxiety
disorder ?
Statement of interest: I am interested in my acp because I suffer from generalized anxiety
disorder, and I know just how much of a challenge it can be; socially and academically. I also
know that being diagnosed with an anxiety disorder can be a hard thing to diagnose. My hope is
that the adults who surround children with anxiety disorder will learn how to recognize and help
when a child is suffering from an anxiety disorder.

Topic: Teenage Depression
EQ: What causes depression in adolescents and what are the different ways to treat depression ?
Statement of interest: The main reason I picked this topic is because I recently went through
depression for the last couple of years. Also I want to show people that teenagers can overcome
depression and that they do not have to be isolated from the world

Topic: Bipolar disorder in adolescent
EQ: What can be done to help reduce or control Bipolar disorder symptoms in adolescents?
State of interest:
My reason on choosing this topic is because I was having a conversation with someone that had
bipolar disorder and they were explaining to me that in runs in their family. Also that this person
runs to a certain drug substance to comfort themselves with the bipolar disorder after this person
was telling me their story it just left me wanting to know more about bipolar disorder.
Project overview and Goals:
We will to conduct a workshop for teachers, administrators, parents, and students, to inform them
on 3 very popular mental health diseases that affect adolescents. This workshop will take place
on April 8th from 1pm- 2:30pm in the auditorium (Mr. Pascale already approved). During this
workshop an expert will speak about depression, anxiety disorder, and bipolar disorder in
adolescents. The expert has already agreed to participate, her name is Amy Mack from Chop
psychiatry. Also, at this workshop, each participant will be responsible for creating some type of
presentation to present to the teachers, staff, parents, and students at their table. At my table, I
will have a poster board filled with facts on different anxiety disorders. I will also have a mini
anxiety simulation. To test the information that was presented, the audience will be divided into

group of 4-5. Those groups will be responsible for using either a skit, poster board, or some type
of written work to display what they have been taught. They will present at 7pm.
Audience:
Although our senior project targets the adult community who surround children with an anxiety
disorder, this acp directly targets teachers and administrators. Because children are in school
most of the time, We thought that it would be best to work with intervention methods and
awareness in a school setting.
Materials:
For this acp , we will need access for the auditorium, 5+ tables ,brochures, an expert from the
field , a laptop , a projector, art supplies and refreshments. Seglinda will provide the laptop , and
reach out to the expert as well as participate in making the brochures. Eduardo and Kelsey will
help facilitate actives and help make brochures. Lastly, we will all provide refreshments.
