are adding and you
will get the same

1. G.3- Partition circles

and rectangles into two
and four equal shares,
describe the shares using
the words halves, fourths,
and quarters; and use the
phrases half-of, fourth-of,
and quarter-of. Describe
the whole as two-of, of
four of the shares.
Understand for these
examples that
decomposing into more
equal shares creates
smaller shares.

Students will be identifying shape by names

The students are also going to be able to
name the sides and the vertices. Students
will be able to divide the shapes in to pieces
and identify the value of that piece to the
entire shape with 80% accuracy. This will help
with the start of fractions later on in higher
grades.

to add and subtract
1. OA.2- Solve word
problems that call for
addition of three whole
numbers whose sum is
less than or equal to 20.
1. OA.6- Add and subtract

fluency for additions and
subtraction with in t10.
Use strategies such as
counting on; making ten;
decomposing a number
leading to a ten; using the
relationship between

digits?
Equal signs mean
that the problem is
the same on both
sides. (1.OA.7)
What does an
equal sign mean?

addition and subtraction;

1. OA.7_ Understand the
meaning of equal sign,
and determine if
equations involving
addition and subtraction
are true or false.

unknown whole number in
an addition or subtraction
equation relating to three
whole numbers.

The highlighted parts of the Long range plan are where the unit will take place. The
unit will last for two weeks. In those two weeks students will have both book work
and hands on experiences with the shapes. Students will have one pre- assessment,
multiple during assessments and a post assessments. The assessments will be
given to see where the students start at and measure their growth at the end of the
unit.
