Workshor During the period under report BlIT organized the following workshops in Dhaka and in some other cities. 3.1. Workshop on ‘Reforming the Qur'an and Sunnah at Islamic University Kustia A day-long workshop on ‘Epistemology and Curriculum Reform with Special Reference to the Qur'an and Sunnah Studies’ was held at Islamic University Kustia on 28 February 2009. It was organized by the Islami University Kustia Chapter of Bangladesh Institute of Islamic Thought (BIIT). Dr. Israr Ahmad Khan, Associate Professor of IIUM was the keynote speaker. The Workshop had four sessions. All the sessions were presided over by Prof. Dr. Abdur Rahman Anwary, Convenor the Islamic University, Kustia Chapter of BIIT, Dr, Nasiruddin Mizi was the moderator of all the working sessions. in session one, the Chief Guest was Prof. Dr. Anwarul Karim, Vice Chancellor-in-charge of Islamic University, Kustia. In this session, after recitation from the Holy Qur'an, Mr. Md ‘Abdul Aziz, Deputy Executive Director, BIT delivered an introductory speech to welcome all and gave an overview of the programs of workshop. Then Dr, Istar Ahmad Khan presented 5 papers: 1. Coherence in the Qur'an, 2. Hadith on Predastination: An Evaluation and Interpretation, 3.The Quitan as a Criterion for Hadith Text Examination, 4. Arguments for Abrogation in the Qur'an: A Critique and 5. Curriculum on Qur'an & Hadith Studies of international Islamic News Letter 2009 University Malaysia (NUM). oe Presentations were also made by academics from the Departments of ALQur'an & islamic Studies, Al-Hadith & Islamic Studies, Dawah & Islamic Studies, Al-Fiqh, Arabic Language & Literature and Islamic Jurisprudence of Islamic University, Kustia, Participants actively took part in the discussion. The Chief Guest delivered a valuable and thought-provoking speech in the workshop. 3.2. Workshop on Integration of Knowledge & Curriculum Reform ‘two-day workshop on ‘Integration of Knowledge and Its Implication to Curriculum Reform’ was successfully held at BIAM, Dhaka on 5: 6 April 2009. Prof. Dr. Mulyadhi Kartanegara, Professor of Philosophy, UIN Sharif Haedayatullah, Jakarta and Director, Centre for Philosophical Studies and Information, Jakarta, Indonesia was the keynote speaker of the workshop. The workshop was presided over by Mr. Md. Sirajul Islam (ratd.Judge), Vice President of BIT. After Moulana Abdul Alim recitation from the Holy Quian, Mr. M. Abdul Aziz, Deputy Executive Director, BIIT delivered a welcome address which was followed by Executive Director of BIT Dr. Md. Lutfur Rahmanis Inaugural speech. Then Prof. Dr. Mulyadhi Kartanegara presented research papers on: 2) Integration of Knowledge: A Theoretical Construct, b) Secularization of Science & Its islamic Answers, ¢) Islamization of Knowledge and Its Implementation: A Case Study of CIPSI, After presentation of each paper participants, took part in the discussion and made comments and asked questions. Prof. Dr. Mulyadhi Kartanegara, responded to audience's questions and comments. More than 50 faculties of different universities particularly from Dhaka University, Manarat, International University, Darul thsan University and Bangladesh Islami University participated in the workshop. Deputy Executive Director of BIIT, Mr. M. ad Abdul Aziz moderated the workshop. 3.3. Workshop on Reforming the Curriculum of English Medium Schools A workshop on ‘Reforming the Curriculum of English Medium Schools’ was held at BIIT Conference Hall on 14 April 2009. The workshop started with recitation from the Holy Qur'an. Mr. M. Azizul Hua, President of BIT was the Chief Guest and Prof. Mr. Mir Akramuzzaman of Jahangirnagar University moderated the workshop. Mr. M Abdul Aziz, Deputy Executive Director, BIIT, gave the Inaugural speech, highlighting the backgrounds and objectives of the workshop. He also thanked all for their presence. In the workshop a good number of Principals, Vice-Principals, Senior Teachers of different English medium schools and some subject specialists from reputed universities and colleges were present. Moderator Prof. Mir Akremuzzarnan gave a briefing on the program and asked the participants to make comments and recommendations on the reformation of curriculum and text books of English Medium Schools. The patticipants took part in the discussion and made their comments and recommendations on different issuas related to the current syllabus, text books and teachers training. In the workshop it was agreed that: a Current syllabus, curriculum and books of the English medium schools, especially those of English, Bangla, General Science anc Social Sciences such as History and Geography, should be thoroughly reviewed. Curriculum should be prepared from an Islamic perspective. New books should be written according te revised curriculum. Five/six working teams should be formed for different subjects. Teachers training programs should be organized on that basis. ro Ii Pua Hi ‘t At the end of the workshop Mr. M Azizul Hug, President News Letter 2009 of BIIT asked the participants to make a combination of revealed and acquired knowledge while reforming and writing text books. 3.4, Workshop on Reforming the Education with Special Reference to the |slamization of Knowledge and Curriculum ‘A two-day workshop on ‘Reforming the Education with Special Reference to the Islamization of Knowledge & Curriculum was held at BIAM, Dhaka on 9-10 October 2008. Prof. Dr. Rosnanii Hashim, Professor of Education, International Islamic University Malaysia was the keynote speaker of the workshop. The workshop was divided into six sessions. In the Inaugural session of day one (9 October 2009), Dr. Md. Lutfur Rahman, Executive Director of Bangladesh Institute of Islamic Thought (BIIT) delivered the address of welcome and Mr. M Abdul ‘Aziz, Deputy Executive Director of BIIT introduced Prot. Rosnani Hashim to the participants. Then Mr. M. Azizul Hug president of BIIT delivered his speech as the Chief Guest and formally inaugurated the workshop. In the working session, Prof, Dr. Rosnani Hashim presented the papers on: 1. The Islamic Worldview & Islamization of Knowledge: A Comparative Analysis, 2. Methodologies of News Letter 2009 Islamization of Knowledge: A Comparative Analysis, 3. Islamization of Knowledae & Integrated Curriculum, 4. Review of Philosophical and Socio Educational Foundation Courses from the Perspective of IOK, 5. Review of Psychosocial Foundation Courses from the Perspective of (OK, 6 Islamization of the Curriculum: the UM Model, 7. Review of BEd. Courses of Dhaka University, 8. Reviving the Pedagogy of Philosophical Inquiry Among Muslim Teachers and Students, After the presentation of each paper, participants took part in the open discussion and made comments and questions. Prof. Dr. Rosnani Hashim responded to their questions and comments. In the working session, participants worked under six groups which were headed by Col. (retd) ZRM Asrafuddin, Prof. Md. Mozammal Hoque, Principal Md. ‘Alamgir Principal Selina Yesmiin, Mr.S M Rasheduzzaman and Mr Md. Abdur Rahman Rakib. In the concluding session of day two (10 October 2009), ‘Mr, Shah Abdul Hannan, Chairman of BIIT Trust and former Secretary to the Government of Bangiadesh delivered his speech as the Chief Guest. Additionally, Mt Shah Abdul Hannan and Prof. Dr. Rosnani Hashim distributed certificates among the participants of the workshop. Mr. M. Abdul Aziz, Deputy Executive Director of BIIT acted as the moderator of the two days workshop. ‘More than 80 faculties of different Universities, Teachers, Training Colleges and English Medium Schools such as, Darul Ihsan University, Prime University, Savar Teachers Made! School & Collage, Aloron International School & ‘College, Manarat Dhaka International College, A-rafah English Medium Madrash participated in the workshop. 3.5. Workshop on Islamization of Knowledge & Reforming the Curriculum of Economics & \ianagement Sciences BIT arranged a two-day workshop on ‘slamization of
