Step 1

Choose a Topic

Work with a partner to research and create a list of things people need.
There are many things people need. Brainstorm what you think peopleneed.
Think about your own experiences, as well as what you have learned in
yourselections this week, as you make your list. Remember that there is a
difference between wants and needs.

Research different ways people get things they need like food, water, and
shelter. Use the tools in the library or media center to help you find
appropriate and reliable resources. Be sure to record the author, title, and
publication information of each source you have used to find information.

Take Notes

Your research should help you add notes to your list about what people do
to get what they need.

Create the Project

Use your research to write a list of what people need. Next to each need,
write what people do to get this need. Remember to use effective words and
include only relevant details in your list of needs. Present your list to the rest
of the class and be sure to use formal language. As you listen to other
presentations, listen carefully and ask questions to learn more information
from the speaker.
You will post your list on the Shared Research Board after you have
presented to the class.
