Analysisofprobablecausesateachsiteandareviewoftheliteratureindicatedthat
severalfactorscontributedtotheproblemsoccurringintheclassroom,includingfamily
environmentandattitude,noaccountabilityforcertainactions,andadultslackofrespectfor
others.(Bermannp).Respectisanelementthathasbeengivenandreceivedfromthedawn
oftime.Respecthasbeentalkedaboutthroughoutallgenerations.Societyneedsrespectin
ordertorunproperly.Respectisdefinedasesteemorasenseoftheworthorexcellenceofa
person.Butwhathappensifrespectjustdisappears?Lackofrespectisabecomingabig
probleminupcominggenerations.Thiseffecthasbeencausedbylackofdiscipline,home
life,andpoorguidance.
Alackofdisciplinecanresultinzerorespect.Disciplineisanessentialelementthatall
kidsandevenadultsneed.Societyneedsrulesrulesthataregoingtobefollowed.Discipline
giveskidsanideaforwhatisokayandwhatisnot.Thefearofgettingpunishedforanaction
willhopefullypreventit.However,ifthereisnosubconsciousthinkingaboutthe
consequences,therewillbenoproblemindoingsomethingthatiswrong.Ignoring
inappropriatebehavioruntilitreachesapointthatyouhavenochoicebuttogiveaharsh
punishmentshouldbeavoided.(Pedota165).Ifteachers,parents,andelderstriedharderto
disciplinekidsandletthemknowthatitisnotokaytobacktalkafigureofauthority,then

studentswillshowmorerespect.

Astudentshomelifecouldalsobeacause.Whetherornotthereisrespectinthe
home,candetermineifthereisrespectoutsideofit.Childrenarewiththeirparentsmorethan
anyoneelse.Ifthingsarenotgoodathomethestudentismorelikelytoactoutatschool.In
otherwords,respectisaboutrelationships:withpeopleweknow,andpeoplewedontknow
withorsociety,culture,government,and...evenwithourselves.(Adu2).Therelationship
betweenparents,siblings,andotherrelativesiskeytohavingagoodhouseholdinternless
misbehaviorfromthechild.
Thebiggestcauseofzerorespectwouldhavetobealackofguidance.Kidslookupto
anyoneolderthanthem.Thatcouldbeanoldersibling,aparent,ateacheroranyoneof
greaterage.Ifachildseesanadultthatisshowingimmaturityandzerorespectthentheyare
morelikelytomimicthoseactions.Thatiswhythisconflictisbecominggreateraseach
generationgoeson.Teachersandadultsalsoshouldnotignoretheseproblems.Someelders
becomelazyinguidanceandbelievethatthereisnofixingtheproblem.Somekidsdonot
knowanybetterbecausetheyhavenotbeentaughtcorrectly.Byteachingthekidstomake
theirowndecisionsregardingrespect,weempowerthemtorealizethattheyhavethe
capabilitytomakechangeswithinthemselvesandtheircommunity.(Adu1).
Lackofrespectisbecomingabigprobleminupcominggenerations.Thiseffecthas
beencausedbylackofdiscipline,homelife,andpoorguidance.Ifwedonotactonthese
problemsandproposeasolutionthenthebehavioralissuesinschoolscouldverywell
increase.Teachersandparentsneedtostanduptokidsandnotletthekidscontinuetogoon
withoutknowingtheconsequences.Kidsneedrules,andstructure.Itistheoldergenerations
jobtoeducatetheyoungonpropermannerisms.Morerespectleadstolessissues.
