Used in classrooms, corporate offices, broadcasting studios, and
professional sports coaching
Large, interactive display
Connects to the computer by USB, serial port cable, or bluetooth
Projector projects computers desktop onto boards surface
user controls computer with pen, finger, stylus, or other device

Uses for Interactive Whiteboard

Running loaded software from computer

Capturing/saving notes written on whiteboard to PC
Capturing notes written on a tablet
Controlling the PC from the whiteboard using click and
drag or markup
Using OCR to translate cursive writing from tablet into
text
Using an audio response system so presenter can
conduct a poll, quiz, or feedback

Classroom Uses
Have replaced traditional whiteboards and flipcharts
Can be used to show online videos, DVDs
Many instructional materials are created specifically for
interactive whiteboards
Ex: Reading Street
Shared reading lessons that mimic books and allow
teachers to project them for book-like interactivity

Interactivity as technical process can lead to activities
being over-valued
Can slow the pace of whole class learning
