Outright gifts of cash - Annual Giving

Pottsboro Cardinal\y alumni, parents and friends express their loyalty to our schools through their
one time or annual contributions. All gifts made, regardless of size, are greatly appreciated. The
first gift of a new graduate is just as important and powerful as the sizable contribution of a long time donor. Both represent a real commitment to our schools success.
Investing annually allows you to truly make a difference in the lives of todays students.

In Memory / In Honor - Memorial Gifts

Memorial gifts are a powerful way to recognize a persons legacy. The Pottsboro Education
Foundation is honored to help families establish a memorial fund in honor of their loved ones.
The support is an enduring legacy that also supports the children of Pottsboro.
Family members, friends and even strangers may contribute to a memorial fund following the
death of a loved one. These funds will be used to support the Foundations teacher grant
programs and other Foundation initiatives. A in memory/in honor endowment fund can also be
established that creates an enduring recognition of your loved one. (please refer to the
endowment section)
The Pottsboro Education Foundation will provide the family with a list of contributors to the
memorial fund as well as a list of all recipients of teacher grants given during that year.

The Teacher and Staff Campaign

The success of Pottsboro Independent School District is dependent upon the participation of
many, including our valued teachers and staff.. As a Cardinal, you support school initiatives and
programs through your daily contribution of time and talents. We want to thank you for supporting
Pottsboro schools - the Cardinal way!
Regardless of size, your gift counts you among those who don't just say they believe in Pottsboro
schools and its mission - they show it. Your participation can support the Foundations teacher
grant program which will continue to transform Pottsboro Independent School District into a
premier Texas educational system.
Thank you for your dedication to Pottsboro and leading by example, and Cardinals show up when
they're needed.

Recognition of Lifes Milestones

Honor a key moment in a person or couples life by making a gift donation to the Foundation in
honor of a birthday, graduation or anniversary milestone. The Foundation will provide a letter of
appreciation for the donation.

Endowments and Planned Giving

An endowment is an amount of money given to the Foundation with a stipulation that the funds
are invested to earn annual interest rather than spent immediately. A portion of the annual
earnings** is used to award teacher grants and support other Foundation initiatives. The rest of
the earnings are reallocated back into the funds principal to ensure the endowment continues to
grow and yield more interest for future support.
Funding Opportunities
Endowments can be established with cash gifts, securities or other property, or may be funded
with a series of gifts made over time. They may also be funded through a bequest or other
deferred gifts, or through a combination of lifetime and deferred gifts.
Earnings will be awarded once the endowment reaches the minimum required funding level and
after the funds have been invested one fiscal year. Because the principal of the endowment is
never spent, such a gift represents an enduring tribute to the person honored by the f und. General
endowments recognize the donor during the annual grant award process. Named endowments are
educational grants issued each year by the Foundation in honor of an individual, group or
company. The dollars may be combined with other funds to support a variety of grants.
Donors who decide to bequeath a portion of their estate to the Foundation in a will or other
instrument will develop a lasting impact on our community. Donors who decide to give to the
Foundation through a bequest may want to use language such as : I give ________% (or
$______________) to Pottsboro ISD Education Foundation Inc. (the Foundation), whose current
address is 105 Cardinal Lane, Pottsboro, Texas 75076, to be used for the general purposes of the
Foundation.

Endowment Minimums

General Endowment Minimum: $5,000 (One time recognition)

Named Endowment Grant Minimum: $20,000 (Recognition is given each year)
** Annual payouts for education grants will be a portion of the earned income on the
endowment investments. The amount given will be at the sole discretion of the Pottsboro
Education Foundation Board of Directors.

STOCKS AND BONDS

Gifts of Marketable Securities and Mutual Funds
Gifts of appreciated stock or mutual fund shares that have appreciated can have an immediate
impact on the Pottsboro Independent School District and our children while creating an income
tax deduction for you. Securities that have been held for at least one year qualify for an income
tax deduction equal to the current fair market value of the transferred assets.
Methods of Acceptance and Valuation
Marketable securities securities regularly traded on a public stock exchange. Gifts of
marketable securities that are freely tradable without restriction are accepted without review of the
Foundation Planned Giving Committee.

Fair market value is generally the average of its high and low trading prices. For mutual funds,
the fair market value is the closing price.

as soon as practical by the Foundation. Marketable securities may not be held without notification
and approval of the Pottsboro Education Foundation Board of Directors.
Methods of Delivery and Effective Date of Transfer
Hand Delivery - If securities are hand delivered to the Foundation, the date for gift credit purposes
is the date the securities and the stock power are delivered to the Foundation. We suggest
completing a stock power in lieu of endorsing the stock certificate(s); unendorsed stock
certificates are non-negotiable. To transfer ownership of the securities to the Foundation, donors
should obtain a stock power, signing it exactly as it appears on the certificate(s), and have their
signature guaranteed by their banker or broker. The Foundation should be designated on the
stock power as Pottsboro Education Foundation (taxpayer identifying # 80-0905255). If

the name of the Foundation the date for gift credit purposes is the transfer date indicated on the
newly issued certificate(s).

stock power, signing it exactly as it appears on the certificate(s), and have their signature
guaranteed by their banker or broker. The stock power and a letter of instruction should be
mailed to the Foundation under separate cover from the stock certificate(s). The Foundation

Foundation.

Electronic Transfer - If securities are electronically transferred from a donor's brokerage account
to an account held in the name of the Foundation via the Depository Trust Company (DTC), then
the value for gift credit purposes will be its fair market value on the date on which the securities

instructions that they will then give to their broker along with a letter of instruction regarding the
specific securities to be transferred. A copy of the letter of instruction should be sent to the
Foundation in order that the donor may be receipted properly. If transferring m utual fund shares

specified above is not placed on a GIK, the value on the donor's record will be $1.
Goods-in-kind donations which require a transfer of title, such as a real estate, car or boat, should
be titled directly to the Foundation.

Employer Matching
Many Pottsboro Education Foundation donors are employed by companies that encourage
donations to education. Matching Gifts Employers work with employees to offer additional
funding to the Foundation. Donors who wish to support Pottsboro Independent School District
can provide more substantial support with the assistance of a matching gift company.
Retired Employees
Many companies also match gifts made by retired employees. Corporations often have special
qualifying processes for individuals who retired from their company, including different matching
ratios. Contact your former employer for more information.
Next Steps
By taking a few minutes to complete the necessary steps, donors can double or triple their gift to
make an even greater impact within our schools. Contact your companys matching gift
administrator, human resources department, or public relations office. They will provide
information about gift matching and instructions to complete the process. Send the companys
corporate matching form and your gift to the Pottsboro Education Foundation.
