Masha Allah Sana you are a very cute big sister to an adorable baby brother, Ahmad.
Sometimes we all get lucky
to see him when he comes with mummy and you to drop you off at the centre. This morning was such a lucky day. When you, ahmad and mommy came inside, you lovingly in your own language pointing at Ahmad said look this is my brother. I said salam to you and mum and then welcomed Ahmad. When mommy put him down all the other children came to see Ahmad and you happily and proudly told everyone that he is your brother. When you went out of the room to put your lunch box away with mum, I sat with Ahmad and Aisha talking to them and showing Ahmad the toys. He looked over whelmed as well as a little scared seeing all these strangers around him. He looked closed to crying when you came back inside you quickly came to us and then held Ahmads hand and pulled him up. You then gently holding his hand you started to show him the alphabet chart. Still holding his hand with one hand and using the other to point at the letters. You said alif, ba tha, sa and then giggled, while Ahmad was smiling and listening to you. You were fully engaged laughing and showing your brother the alphabet chart when I interrupted you with my camera trying to take a picture of you both. He then left with mum and you excitedly said goodbye to them both. Sana you were being a gentle tuakana (older knowledgeable), looking after your Teina, (younger sibling). Sana, you were demonstrating care, compassion and a sense of responsibly towards your brother. Your kind and caring nature enabled Ahmad to feel safe and happy even in a new strange environment. I will continue to provide you with more such opportunities to learn together and alongside others and be both a tuakana and teina.
