Fact or Fiction: 5-UNI vs 12-Wyoming

This installment of fact or fiction previews the second round game of the NCAA
Tournament where the 9/11th ranked 5th-seeded UNI Panthers (30-3) take on the
12th-seeded Wyoming Cowboys (21-9) at KeyArena in Seattle, WA. Tip is scheduled
for 12:40 p.m Friday.
Tune into 1540 KXEL on the Panther Sports Radio Network at 12:00 p.m. for the UNI
Panther Basketball pre-game Show with Gary Rima (play-by-play) and Kevin
Boyle (color analyst).

FACT OR FICTION? UNI defensive-stopper extraordinaire Jeremy Morgan

(with help from a few others) will hold dynamic Cowboys guard Josh

Adams (13.1ppg) below his season average in points.

Nick Gary: FICTION
Not because I dont have faith in Jeremy Morgan, but Adams will be given every
opportunity to score in this game. He averaged 33.5 minutes per game this season
and was given the greenest of lights, shooting 44-percent from the field, and 33percent from behind the arc. In terms of three-point percentage, He would be the
ninth best shooter on UNI. In the Mountain West championship game, Adams
scored 10 points on 14 shots. Adams and Nance remind me of Evansville, a two man
high-low game on offense that will generate most of their offenses production. Hell
get to 13, but will have at least that many shots to get there against Morgan & Co.

FACT OR FICTION? Wyoming star forward Larry Nance Jr. (16.1ppg/7.2rpg)
must be out-scored and out-rebounded by UNI star forward Seth Tuttle for
the Panthers to advance to the round of 32.

Nick Gary: FICTION
I strongly believe that Tuttle will play to his usual standards, but its not vital that he
out-produce Nance Jr. Similar to Adams, Nance might not get a rest in this game.
Hes averaging nearly 35 minutes per game, and he and Adams represent almost
half of their teams points, so hell get plenty of chances to score. UNIs defense is
too good to only have two reliable scorers. For Wyoming, the game will come down
to who else can provide offense. For UNI, the key will be playing inside-out. Tuttle
doesnt necessarily have to score a ton of points, but he must get his touches and
pass out of double and triple teams to the multitude of Panther three-point shooters.
FACT OR FICTION? With both teams being in the bottom 6 (of 351 schools)
in possessions per game, the Panthers will look to go against their pace of
play numbers and seek out a number of opportunities to score in
transition.
Nick Gary: FICTION
I think Coach Jacobson has learned his lesson in trying to speed up the pace with
these guys. UNI is among the best in the country in the slow pace game, and its
gotten them this far, so why switch it up? Also, Wyoming is no slouch on defense.
They come into the game ranked in eighth in the country in points allowed, so there
will not be many easy buckets in transition. This game will be played at a snails
pace, with very few possessions to be had. Whoever creates more opportunities on
the offensive glass will most likely win this game. For this reason, Marvin Singleton,
as the hustle guy, who provides many of UNIs offensive rebounds, will play a huge
role if the Panthers advance to the third round.
