Six-week Outline
Ministry to Youth
Key passage: Hebrews 11:1, Hebrews 11:6
For our six week plan, we will only be having youth group on Wednesdays
Purpose Statement: To encourage students to develop true faith in God using Bible
narratives and real life application
Week 1: Cain and Abel
Text: Hebrews 11:4, Genesis 4:1-16
Thesis Statement: Faith is a commitment
Purpose Statement: To encourage students to make their faith a commitment.
Faith is a habit we need to get into by giving God our everything and fully trusting in
Him and making sacrifices, whether time or possessions, to fully worship and devote ourselves
to Him. Self sacrifice is essential to fully worship God and express our gratitude and devotion
towards the Father.
Creative Service Element: During the message, we will re-enact the story of Cain and Abel.
Students will be involved in this way.
Week 2: Enoch
Text: Hebrews 11:5-6, Genesis 5:21-24
Thesis: God is faithful, when we are faithful to him.
Purpose Statement: To remind students that when they are faithful to God, He is faithful to them.
Enoch was a man who placed His life in Gods hands and served Him in all He did.
Although we do not know much about Him, we do know that he lived his life so dedicated to
God that He spared him the pain of death and directly took Him to heaven showing that God will
bless those who are faithful to Him.
Week 3: Noah
Text: Genesis 6:9, Hebrews 11:7
Thesis: Faith leads to holy fear
Purpose: To encourage students to develop a true reverence for God because through faith, they
can develop reverence.
We worship a God who is all-powerful and is able to do anything. Using the narrative of Noah,
we will show how faith in God can lead you through hardships and develop a true fear and
reverence of God and the things He can do.
Creative: After the message, students will have the chance to take communion and connect with
God through prayer and worship.
Week 4: Abraham

Text: Hebrews 11:8-19

Thesis: Faith leads to provision
Purpose Statement: To encourage students that God can do what seems impossible to them.
Abraham had faith that God would follow through with His promise although he did not
know where it would lead him. Abraham devoted his life to God's calling to go to a new place to
develop a nation that would be devoted for God to make his home in the promised land. He went
through hardships but always remained faithful to God and He provided Abraham with a son as
He promised. God told Abraham to sacrifice his new son and because of his faith in God, he was
willing to do so. Because of his faith, once again God provides in bringing Isaac back from the
dead to further God's plan in creating a nation that glorifies Him.
Week 5: Moses
Text: Hebrews 11:23-29 focusing on vs. 26
Thesis: Faith produces perseverance
Purpose Statement: To encourage students to trust in the perfect timing of God.
Moses did as God commanded because he knew that his reward would be greater than anything
in this world. He continually listened to God and followed God's plan that lead the Israelites out
of Egypt knowing God would provided. Through Moses faith we can see that God will provide
when we continue to serve Him through all the highs and lows of life. He regarded disgrace for
the sake of Christ as of greater value than the treasures of Egypt, because he was looking ahead
to his reward.
Week 6: Faith and Doubt
Text: Hebrews 11:39-40
Thesis: Doubt strengthens faith
Purpose Statement: To remind students that doubt has the potential to strengthen their faith.
There is no doubt that we will go through many different trials that puts our faith to the test. As
we wrap up this series on faith, we will present the idea that we need faith in God to endure and
know he will provide in His time and in His own way. Through our doubt in God that will arise,
God will persevere and strengthen our faith in Him and we will build a stronger relationship with
Him.
Creative Element: At the start of the service, students will play a game. Each student will go
through an obstacle course (one student will be blind-folded and the other student will guide
them) to the end of the course.
*We believe that parents are able to have a huge impact on the faith of their student(s) so we will
provide weekly resources for parents so that they are able to partner with us to develop a sticky
faith in the life of their student(s).
-Weekly discussion guide: This discussion guide will include a summary of the message and
sample small group questions that a family can discuss.

Every week with this series we will help students grow on a personal level with God and in
community with one another by implementing prayer at the beginning of each service, creating a
worship environment for students to truly connect with God. Partaking in communion and
offering building faith in God. This pattern was developed by Mark Yaconelli presented in the
duffy robbins book.
Throughout this series we will be focusing on the main principle presented by Andy Stanley in
The Seven Checkpoints, God can be trusted; he will do all he has promised to do. Also building
off this idea is a philosophy from You Lost Me, being present in their lives and growing with them
to further God's plan. By meeting together and discussing things with them and getting to know
them better to build a strong relationship to create a trusting environment for them to learn in.
