I demonstrated
professionalism from
beginning of the course and
the beginning of the
placement. I followed the
rules and regulations of
Villa Columbo and ensured
my responsibilities as a
student nurse. When
helping with my resident I
applied theory-based
approach and found positive
outcomes.

You always maintain a friendly

and professional manner with
your residents. You constantly
provide safe, competent care
to them.

In the beginning of placement

uncertainties of
communication were a
problem. As the semester
progressed I got more
involved with my resident and
the health care team which
helped strengthen the
communication within.
Practice reading and
administering medication
helped with reading the MAR
charts effectively.

You communicate in a
professional manner with the
interprofessional team. You
observe, report and document
in an accurate and timely
manner.

In the beginning of placement,

I was unable to build a nurseclient relationship. As the
semester progressed, and
more activities with the
resident began, I was able to
understand the needs of my
resident.

You constantly provide care

that is compassionate and
respectful to all of your
patients.

Starting of the placement, I

was unable to advocate for
myself or others because of
nervousness. After receiving
feedbacks from my peers, I
was able to advocate more
effectively as I figured out the
areas in which I did not do as
well in that week. When
helping my client, I used
correct techniques and
maintained a safe environment
for my client and for others.
S:
ND:
U:

On several occasions you

have advocated for your
patients, and have ensured
that their needs are being met.

When doing client care, I was

unable to fulfill my clients need
in the first week of practice. As
the weeks progressed, I was
able to prioritize the needs and
outcomes of my patients.
S:
ND:
U:

Sometimes your desired plan

of are does not go accordingly,
but you are receptive to
modifying them to meet the
needs of the resident.

With the help if the health care

team I was able to assess the
client and achieve the
expected outcomes by
administering correct
medications and preparing
client for the day.

You work effectively with the

interprofessional team to meet
the needs of the residents.

Throughout the weeks I

demonstrated safe, competent
care for my client by using
reflective practice. Learning
new and safe techniques,
such as the hoyer lift, helped
with the assurance of safety of
clients. At the end of the day,
receiving feedback helped my
role as a student nurse.

You always seek learning

opportunities and always
reflecting on your practice.

With the progression of the

clinical days, I learnt how to
successfully achieve an
understanding of the
expectation of my client. I
learnt how to prioritize the
needs for my client with
practice from week one. With
more practice I would be able

Over time you will be able to

use critical thing skills to make
decisions based on the
information presented.

to correctly use theory-based

practice to solve problems,
and make decisions for my
client.
