Judd Mahalo

The earliest Judd can access his super in Australia is at the expected
retirement age of 60 because he was born in February 1993 (ASIC,
2015), however because Judd is a education visa and wont be
permanently living in Australia he can claim his super (Australian
Txation Office, 2014). Using the AMP life expectancy survey that
looks at a number of factors that contribute and are detrimental to a
long life such as diet, smoking, happiness, genetics and more we
can roughly estimate that Judds life expectancy is 84 years of age
(AMP, n.d.).
Judd is a temporary resident in Australia so his employer has to
make super guarantee contributions to his super fund (Australian
Txation Office, 2014). The minimum super guarantee Judds
employer has to contribute doesnt change because Judd is a
temporary resident. The employer still has to contribute 9.5% of
Judds wage or salary to his super accountant (Australian Txation
Office, 2014). The 9.5% of SG (super guarantee) contributions are
based on Judds ordinary time earnings this means the ordinary
hours of work.
Judd hasnt bothered in finding the most suitable super for himself
because he wont be a resident of Australia long enough for it to be
useful. His employer will choose a default super fund for him called
MySuper (ASIC, 2015). This account is the most appropriate for Judd
because it consists of: Simple features, as there are many services
that Judd wont require and life stage investment options, perfect as
Judd will be using Super for a long period of time (ASIC, 2015).
