Summary of the main achievements during the period

2

The last financial year has seen the charity progress in its aims and set up for a
productive 2015/16.
The accounts show an increase in funds raised and dispersed. A large portion of
income is our first grant. Big Lottery have awarded us funds to run Wales to Malawi:
Joining the Dots Project which aims to link individuals, groups and organisations in
Wales with similar in Malawi.
Greenspace Gallery in Carmarthen hosted a small exhibition of 4 prints of Zion
Kennedy Phillips Chirwa (Chair of HOPemalawi) work that has blossomed not only into
a Student Scholarship but also a project to train women in Malawi in craft skills on
October 2015.
Continuing support has been gratefully received from numerous individuals and from
Coleg Sir Gar Art Students, Gwalia staff Munching for Malawi and CBSA staff taking
part in the HOPEmalawi Challenge.
In Malawi our partners HOPEmalawi have received funds to set up an office and begin
the Community Scholarship program. 10 young people have received the chance to go
to school, 9 of whom have individual Sponsors.
Mzimo Cookery School took delivery of a small library of cookery books donated in
Wales.
Priorites were set in a partnership meeting held with HOPEmalawi in Nkhata Bay in
January 2015 and include an exciting plan to build on the experience of HOPE
Gardens and develop HOPE Farm; a project that will increase the supply of locally
produced food, provide an income for other projects and be able to sustain itself.
A link has been made with the Kaya Festival, to be held in Margam Park in August
2015 that will be a great chance to promote the charity and raise funds to establish for
HOPE Farm.
