Transformations/Tessellations

Project

For this project you will create three tessellations.
Two of the tessellations will be the transformation type (i.e.
they will use translations, reflections, and rotations). See
directions below.
One of the tessellations will have more than one tile. See
directions below.
The tessellations must be done on an 8 X 11 sheet of paper.
Tessellations must be unique, and colorful and meet the
requirements in the rubric on the back.
You will have today and tomorrow to work on the tessellations in
class. Any additional time you need to complete your tessellation
will be homework. The tessellations are due on May 1st.

For the transformation type

1. Start with a regular geometric figure (equilateral triangle,
square, hexagon, etc square is easiest).
2. Cut a shape off of one side from corner to corner do not
cut diagonally
3. Follow the appropriate steps for the type of transformation
tessellation you are trying to create
4. Tape nibble to appropriate side
5. Repeat steps 2-4 with one of the un-touched side
6. Trace figure onto a piece of paper. Then translate, reflect, or
rotate shape onto paper and trace again. Do this multiple
times to create a tessellation.
