1. Clean Energy Can Drive America?s Economic Recovery: A Debate.

This video is a debate where they are discussing whether or not the
economy can be driven by clean energy. This video is a reliable source
because it is discussed between four members that have every right to be up
on stage. The video has two people supporting the fact that clean energy
can drive Americas economy. They also have two people claiming that clean
energy cannot drive Americas economy. The purpose of the video was to
see after the facts have been debated, whether the audience believes or
does not believe that clean energy can drive the economy.
After watching the video Im stuck between the two options. Both
sides of the argument brought up very good and valid points. The fact is
that wind energy and solar cannot drive the economy of the United States
because they are too expensive and not efficient enough. For clean energy

to drive the economy we need to use natural gas and nuclear energy as well.
Nuclear energy scares people away because of the high risk. This video is on
topic with my research question and is a very strong source for me to use.
This is a credible source because it was a professional debate. The
four people debating have dedicated their careers to their knowledge of their
topic. It was also a TV broadcast and had a live audience. I found this video
on the Librarys data base so that also helps me confirm that it is a credible
source.

(e-book)
This book talks about the truth and future of our countrys energy
dependence. It discusses how bad our previous way of getting and using oil
was and how bad it is now. This book talks about pollution and the facts
behind them. The purpose of this book it to get Americans to realize that
there is a real problem coming and if we dont act on it quickly it could be
detrimental.
After reading what I have already read it is no surprise to me all the
facts that were stated. Energy consumption in the 70s was high and the
pollution was terrible. That is affecting how we are going to obtain and use
energy in the future. The article also talks about how Americans take energy
for granted because we can just flick a switch at any time and the lights

come on. This article is strong with how it talks about facts from the past
and how they are going to influence what the future holds for us.
This is a very credible source. This book was published by MIT, which
is the best school for technology in the country. Also this was certified by our
library as being a reliable source since it was found on our librarys dada
base.
3. "Advancing American Energy." The White House. The White House.
Web. 17 Feb. 2015.
This article I found online gives a lot of good information of our countries
plans on energy for the future. This article is posted by the White House so it
is something they must be taking in consideration. The article talks about
increasing use of Natural gas, reducing our dependence on foreign oil, and
creating new and efficient technology to harness and use renewable energy.
The article was somewhat disappointing to me after I read it because
although it does have good plans for our energy future, they are not to the
degree or expectations of mine and they will not serve us well in the long
term. This is on topic for my research question because it addresses our
countries energy intentions for the near future.
This is a very credible source. I found this on Google however it is
posted by the White Houses website which is also .gov. It did not say who
the author was but this must be the intentions of the president.

4. Johnson, Rody. Chasing the Wind: Inside the Alternative Energy Battle.
Knoxville: The
University of Tennessee Press, 2014. Project MUSE. Web. 22 Feb.
2015. <https://muse.jhu.edu/>.
This is a source that talks about how we are chasing down renewable
clean energy for our future. Clean energy is going to play a huge role in the
future of energy dependence and this book talks about the technology and
infrastructure along with the economic roles this is going to play. This book
also talks about the possibilities for our future from renewable energies. Buy
2050 up to about 80% of our energy can be obtained from renewable and
clean energy sources such as wind, solar, water, nuclear, etc. The purpose is
to inform people what the future holds and what it is going to take us to get
there.
After reading this book, everything that is claimed is possible but in my
eyes very unlikely. Renewable resources are great and going to play a role in
the future but to say in the next 35 years 80% of our energy will come from
these sources is a huge claim. For that to happen there must be huge
advances in the technology and infrastructure. Right now its just way too
expensive and doesnt yield the results we need. Coal is much cheaper and
is significantly more efficient. I like this book because everything it talks
about is completely possible. With how fast technology is advancing it is
completely possible for their claims to become true.
This book is a very credible source for my project. It was written just
last year so it is up to date. I found it through the librarys database and the

University of Tennessee published it. The book is an e-book offered to us

through our library.
5. Reddy, P J. Clean Coal Technologies for Power Generation. , 2014. Print.

This source talks about the past, present and future of coal energy. This book
tell us

about how back before environmental regulations became strict how coal polluted
the environment and significantly impacted global warming and other issues with
the environment. They then go on to talk about how the new technological
advances help diminish the amount of pollution given off. He talks about the role
future engineers are going to play and how they are creating jobs. They then go on
to talk about how coal is going to play a critical role in the future of our energy
dependence.
After reading this book I agree with just about everything they talk about.
They talk about a lot of facts from the past and what is currently going on. I know
that the role of coal is going to be critical for our future energy dependence. The
book was obviously written by someone supporting coal energy. Even though it is
bias it still brings up a lot of good points and is a very good source for my project.
I know this is a credible source because I found this book through the school
library. It was written by someone who knows a lot about the energy industry and
has experience specifically in the coal energy.
