Appendix 2

Lit Con 2015

Imagine that you are all employees of Ceely, Inc. Ms. Ceely, your employer, has chosen you to
represent the company at an upcoming conference, Lit Con 2015. Ms. Ceely, being the generous
employer that she is, will give you a choice of presentation style and topic. However, your level within
the company will dictate the level of project she expects you to produce.
Full-Time Employees: (Tier 1) Full-time employees may use works of literature or authors studied
during the past year, or they may choose a new author or title. This is the only tier in which a poster will
be acceptable, with the exception of the storyboard option.
Junior Level Management: (Tier 2) Junior level management, since they are serving as role models for
full-time employees wishing to move up within the company, must use new materials that have not been
used by the company in the past two years (i.e. novels you have read during middle school). Products at
this tier require that students complete a PowerPoint, Photo Story, or similar product using technology;
the more creative the use of technology, the better.
Senior Level Management: (Tier 3) Ms. Ceely sees her senior level managers as those who exemplify
what it means to be an employee of Ceely, Inc. and thus expects work from this level of employee to be
well thought out and of the highest quality. Products at this tier are expected to be either live
dramatizations (acting it out) or a complete filmed and edited video.

As with all tasks given to employees within companies, you have deadlines to meet for this
assignment. Attached you will find a list of the tiered conference options, as well as a calendar for
deadlines you will have to meet along the way. Students in On-Level classes may choose to work at any
of the three levels, while student in Advanced or TAG level classes have the option of utilizing either tier
2 or tier 3. You have a final deadline of Wednesday, May 6, 2015. Your entire presentation must be ready
for a run-through for the boss at this point. Ms. Ceely will have final approval before your presentation
goes to conference; you are representing Ceely, Inc. after all. Should your project be deemed unfinished
or not ready for presentation, you will be sent to a separate location to continue preparing your project for
conference. Finally, the conference you will attend will take place Tuesday, May 12-Friday, May 15.
