Analysis of Students Learning
Styles

Comparing the two graphs, it seems like majority of the

students feel more comfortable reading to themselves.
Only one or two students felt like they read best/ most
comfortable when they read to a large group. The
students should get more opportunities to read aloud in
the classroom so they will become more comfortable.

Its also interesting to see that no student felt like they

read best when they are at school. The students might
feel pressured to read at a certain rate when they are
at school.

The graph to the right

shows students interests
in books. Most students
enjoy sports. Which is not
a surprise because the
class is heavy boys. As
you can see, there is a
wide range of preferred
genres in the classroom.

Majority of the class
prefers reading books.
This includes hard or
paper covered books.
Only one student
preferred magazines and
the rest of the students
chose comic books.
However, I should have
specified whether the
reading material was used
for school or for leisure
time.

Majority of the students
claimed that they complete
their reading assignments
right when they get home.
However, there was one
students who circled I dont

circled, Right when I get

been hesitant to tell the truth
about their homework due to
the fear of getting in trouble.

Implementation Plan

I would have the students read aloud in small groups in

order to build their confidence on reading aloud to others.
However, I would still fit in that quiet reading time that
they need individually.

I could choose a topic about sports so that the students

will be interested in the topic. In order to broaden their
interests in other genres of books, I could work with my
mentor teacher to bring in different articles that the
students could read. Articles could include:

Sports in school/college

Animals

Anything that they could relate to their home life.

Most students believe reading is fun, so hopefully bringing

in other genres will enhance their interest in reading.

+
Implementation Plan
(continued)
Majority of the students enjoy books as their main source of

reading. I could work with my mentor teacher and have the

students explore multimodal text. This way, students will
be able to express their learning through:

Videos

Voice recordings

Book recording

If students are given various types of multimodal texts as

homework assignments, they might want to do their
homework once they get home.

Multimodal texts will also help those students who are shy
and prefer to read by themselves. Such as recording
yourself and composing a short film about a passage they
were assigned to read.
