Reflection
Dear reader,
Hi! Im Chuande Ye, the writer of this synthesis paper. My topic is Finding the Effective
Methods for International student to Communicating with American Students. Which is focus
on effective international methods communication on America campus. My audiences are Ms.
Park and other students in the ENGL class. The purpose of my writing is that I want to find some
references to support my research and find some new thoughts. I read 3 articles and analyzed
those references to find supports of my arguments and solutions of my topic. I think it is
interesting and I think writing this synthesis paper can helps me find some effective methods or
skills to make friend with American students by analyzing those 3 articles. I didnt use simile or
metaphor because in this paper I was mainly focused on the APA style and in-text citation. In my
opinion I think the strength of my paper is that I showed different ideas and concerns in
international communication: While Zimmermanns paper focuses on how the culture difference
influence international communication. Wang, Sun, and Liu (2010) were more concerned with
the linguistic part, and the article in Indiana Universitys web site talks about specific skill during
international communication. By present those different aspects, Im able to show a vivid and
objective picture about effective international communication methods on American campus.
The main problem of the final draft is that I still have some confuse about in-cite citation and
may made some mistake in my paper, it may let my audience have trouble in understand my
ideas and my conclusion was not enough.
My peer reviewer is Woods Ye, he did a good job and gave me some useful advice. For
example, he told me better not show emotions in a research paper. Also, he thinks that the ending
part should simply conclude the whole paper or last paragraph again. So I revised my conclusion.
His advice help me to improve my paper. I appreciate it!
The challenges I encountered when I am writing this paper is I didn't know how to make
my article specific. I tended to let it to board during my first draft and Miss. Park pointed out my
problem so I did some revise and I find it was really hard to decide how to cut some part and
how to add some part. If I have too more days to complete my final draft, I will focus on
conclusion part and the APA style. I think I have expressed those articles authors opinions
clearly but still my conclusion part has many problems.
My question about my final draft is: Do you think my synthesis paper is attractive? Do
you think this paper is clear and understandable?
I have checked all requirements.
