Duringaperiodwhenthestudentsarenotintheclassroom,"gold"willbehiddenaroundtheroom.Approximately60
piecesofgoldisneeded.Nuggetcandyoranygoldfoilwrappedcandyworkwell.Thelessonwilltakeplaceuponthe
studentsarrivalbacktotheclassroom.
1. StudentswillbetoldtheyaregoingtobeapartoftheGoldRush.
2. Studentswillsitintheirdesksandonenameisdrawnfromthesticks.
3. Thefirststudentwillbegivenoneminutetofindasmuchgoldaroundtheclassroomaspossible.Studentsintheir
seatmustsitsilentlyduringthistime.
4. Afteroneminuteisupthestudentwillweightheirgoldusingabalancescaleaswellasgramsandounces.The
willrecordtheirgoldonthewhiteboard.
5. Theywillnowbeinformedthattheymustbuyfoodandsuppliesandtheyalsohavetheopportunitytopay
workerstosearchforgoldforthem.Theworkersmustbepaidregardlessoftheirsuccessfindinggold.Students
