Theteacherwillbeintroducingthetopicofvolcanoesatthebeginningoftheweek.Theteacherwillgo
overthethreetypesofvolcanoes,inactiveversusdormant,theRingofFireandpreventiontacticsthat
societycandoduringacrisistime.Beforethestudentsdiveintocreatingtheirfilm,theteacherwillreview
howtoeditavideo.Duringthevideocreation,theteacherwillmonitorthestudentsandhelpthestudents
withthevideoediting.
Theteacherwillbeassessingthestudentsthroughouttheweekmakingnotesofcollaborating,research
skills,videoeditingskills,appropriatebehaviorandfinalproduct.Theproductwillbeperformancebased
usingafivescalerubric.Commentsandfeedbackwillbeprovidedbytheteacher,however,whenthe
projectsareuploadedontotheclassroomblogparentsareabletoincludecomments.Thesecommentswill
befilteredfirstthroughtheteacherthenpublished.
Thisprojectwilltakeaboutaweektocomplete.Theteacherwillallowthestudentstoworkontheirproject
duringtheirdedicatedscienceblockoftheday.Thisblockoftimeshouldbeableanhour.Studentsshould
trytocompleteoneaspectoftheprojecteachday.
Theaudienceforthisprojectwillbefellowclassmatesandparents.Thefinalprojectwillbepublishedon
