Teaching Philosophy

My understanding of what should be thought is not just general and standard for all students, but
an individual journey. Every student has and goes through his/hers own unique experiences
throughout their school years, whether elementary school or as high as university level. To better
assist students and have them benefit from our education system, we as teachers should be very
verse and well trained on their profession. Teaching is not just a job that you go clock in and out,
go home and forget about it till the next day, teaching goes beyond school hours. A teacher must
consider their job a part of their everyday life. Because teachers spend most of their time dealing
with students and school work, they should not just treat it as a job, but also consider that
students are looking at them as their role models, thus it is important to carry yourself and act to
the highest of standards as to give a good example to their students. Teaching is not just book
and pencils; it is about teaching and molding human beings to know how to function well in real
life situations and to help people succeed in many aspects of everyday life.
One important consideration is student and teacher relationship. To reach such challenging
marks it is imperative to cement mutual respect, firm from the teachers standards, yet fair. A
teacher should also have good communication skills, as well as good and consistent accessibility
with his/her students. Every student should be treated equally and fair without any favoritism or
unfair treatment of students. Create an environment where both, the teacher and student, feel
comfortable. The encouragement of participation should be build and mold so that every member
of the class feels motivated and confident to interact and participate without being judge or put
down, thus building confidence and individuality. Building upon these values would help
students succeed and become better member of our society, creating a good learning
environment and molding students to be independent and successful adult in their future lives
and careers.
Learning isnt just academically; it is also practical and efficient in any type of situation. A
teacher must motivate students to accomplish anything they want in life, whether professionally
or and in everyday life situations. The teacher should and must sincerely dedicate his teachings
to help students evolve academically and practically. The school years should be seen as a
journey in which learning is the main path and objective. Encouraging and motivating students to
keep learning should pay off not just for student, but teachers as well because it shows that there
is much to gain for everyone as a whole. Teaching could be challenging if the students are not
engaged, but if the teacher knows how to involve the students with the learning process it
becomes quite enjoyable for both sides, a harmonious learning environment in which both parties
are engaged will create a positive and pleasant learning experience. To accomplish this type of
environment the teacher should have an outgoing personality, be genuine, and always
demonstrate a steady mood.
I truly and honestly believe that when a teacher sincerely gets involves with students and
becomes a true role model; both teacher and student will grow intellectually and personally.
Showing your true-self, demonstrating that you care, and working hard for your students will
show students that a genuine and realistic sense of feeling could come out of the teacher, thus
showing that teachers are indeed true caring human beings and not just dictators or someone

thats just there to do a job. Perhaps by showing us teachers are true caring human beings, the
students can open up more and find some level of equality and apathy and become more engaged
with the learning process. A teacher is not just that, is a mentor and a friend, but also enforces
students to become appropriate and reach maturity in many aspect of life.
Teacher should provide the opportunity for all students to show individual abilities/multicompetences, and also learn from one another. Everyone has a different learning style and
background, whether an international school or not, the teacher should be aware of these factors
and incorporate it in the teaching philosophy. Studies on multi-competence theory believe that
education can benefit to its full potential if the teacher recognizes these concepts. Everyone has
the ability to learn, so is the teachers job to incorporate a teaching style that can include
everyones way of learning and avoiding teaching for just one specific style. All students deserve
to get the same level and quality of education so that everyone benefits from it. By taking the
time to get to know each student, or get familiar with the students culture the teacher can
provide each student with equal opportunities to learn and reach the highest level of education
each individual could potentially accomplish. I have thought lessons which includes; listening,
seeing how it works with written examples or pictures to relate to, hands on work that includes
an action being perform e.g. turning on the room light as to teach vocabulary and relating it with
an action etc. I believe that if we make an effort to include everyone in it, we can create a better
and much productive/even learning environment.
Teachers should also keep up to date and avoid becoming outdated. By keeping up with up to
date methods of teaching and education the teacher can and will provide an ever-fresh and
current education curriculum. Perhaps exchanging ideas and teaching styles with fellow teachers
could also help to maintain a good teaching system that can incorporate outside feedback as to
improve or and solidify ones education style. Creating these types of networking among teachers
can provide first hand support for each other and keep each other in check. It is always good to
have someone you can depend on if needed.
To conclude, my decision of becoming a teacher has to do with me being on the other side of the
classroom. I know whats to be a student and what takes to do well in school. I believe that I can
incorporate my own experience and use it to help students get ahead in life. School is not just
notebooks and pencils; school is about growing mentally and spiritually as well. When you learn
you feel good, and when you feel good your spirit is high and in good standing. Learning is not
just academically; learning is growing as a human being as well. I intend to pass my values and
help future generations to become people that can positively enrich and better our society.
