Moving Location Lesson Intentions: In this activity you are learning to: - Locate a place on the globe and label it on your 2D map. - Use a compass to work out what direction the country is. - Use ICT to plan and decide a suitable way to get to the country, What you will need: - (Pad. - Map of Australia and surround. countries = Colouring pencils/ pens, ruler, rubber, glue, scissors. - Compass - Travel jpurnal book = Globe What to do: 1 Take or collect necessary equipment from the above list 2 You will need to wait your turn to use the globe. Whilst you wait for your turn, give your map a title, put todays date on it and your name, a. When you receive the globe locate your country and then label it using a coloured pen. on your own map &. Take the compass and stand north-facing Closely monitor the arrow and identify what direction your country is in. 3. Draw a compass at the bottom right corner of your map using a different coloured pen. (Do not forget to display the counrties direction on your drawn compas). « Take an Pad and open it to google maps. Type in Australia and your decided country and find the travel path. 1. Draw the travel path on your map using a different colowred pencil, piece of wool or any material you wish. +. Once this is complete, cut around the outside of the map and decorate how you wish + Take out your travel purnal and write an entry about what you found out today about your country. Make sure you glue your map under the diary entry. Extension adivity: Go onto http://q0.qean.gldeduau/ttlevel-basicand have a look at your neighbouring country, other countries within the continent and think about the similarities and differences Succss Criteria You are successful when you have: - Located and labelled your country on your 2D map Correctly used a compass to identify the direction of the country. - Displayed a travel path on your map of how to get to that country, - Written a purnal entry about your learning experiences today (what you have learnt).
