History.
LESSON OBJECTIVE:
Students will create a PowerPoint using the information from their outline.
Student will be able to give a brief history on a person of historical importance
STANDARDS ADDRESSED:
2.32 Participate in shared research using biographies to interpret the significance of contributions made
by people of the United States, recounting or describing key ideas and details from the texts. Teachers
may choose any biographies. Some suggestions are as follows: John Smith, Pocahontas, Benjamin
Franklin, George Washington, Benjamin Banneker, Nancy Ward, James Robertson, John Sevier,
Sequoyah, David Crockett, Sacagawea, Sam Houston, Abraham Lincoln, Harriet Beecher Stowe,
Fredrick Douglass, Harriet Tubman, Sitting Bull, Booker T. Washington, Ida B. Wells, the Wright
Brothers Marian Anderson, Thurgood Marshall, Rosa Parks, Jackie Robinson, Cesar Chavez, Martin
Luther King, Jr., Neil Armstrong, Roberto Clemente, Wilma Rudolph, Sally Ride, and Bill Gates.
MATERIALS:
Instruction sheet with outline attached to it
A computer with internet and PowerPoint

Pen or a pencil

BACKGROUND and RATIONALE:


The key concept of the lesson is to gain knowledge of people of historical significance.
Academic Language will be addressed in method courses and not addressed in IDT 3600
The lesson builds on with previous standards dealing with government and civics
I will used the vocabulary and some of the things we used to study to connect the two lessons.
The lesson or Technology use will be modified to meet the need of diverse learners
PROCEDURES AND TIMELINE:
Introduction: I will start the lesson out by telling them about some people who are important to history.
Procedures:
10 Minutes Prior to Computer.
1. Hand out the instructions.
2. Walk them through the process of the research.
3. Show them how to fill out their outline.
4. Show the students how to set up their PowerPoints.
30 Minutes at the Computer
1. The students will open up PowerPoint
2. Set it up by include 4 slide and creating a heading for each.
3. Then the just will go to the one of the three websites or all if needed.

4. As the students research they will filled out their PowerPoint outline on their instruction sheet.
15 minutes after research
1. The student will save their work and put their name as the file name.
2. Give their worksheet to the teacher and close out all tabs opened
2nd day 30 minute lesson
1. Students will put the information from their outline into their slide.
2. Once the information is put in the students will add their picture were is needed.
3. The students will add in transitions and other effect to make it original
2nd day 25 minute lesson
1. The student will form groups
2. Then the students will present their projects to their group
3. Afterwards as a class we will discuss what we learned.
Closure: To close out the lesson the students will form groups and present their projects to each other
and reflect on what they learned.

MODIFICATIONS:
I am aware that modifications will be made for students who did not master the objective and for those
ready for enrichment. However modifications are not covered in this course and are not part of this
particular lesson.
