Larson, Ron., et al. Geometry, Orlando, Florida: Houghton Mifflin,

2012.
**(This text is also available electronically)**
Each student is loaned a textbook that must be returned at the end
of the school year. Since you do not own the book, it must be
covered throughout the year and you may not write in it. Your
teacher will inspect the book at the end of the year. You will be
charged the cost of the book for a missing book or for excessive
damage (writing, water damage, broken bindings, etc.).

Technolog
y:

Each student is required to have her own TI-84 (or TI-83 plus)
calculator for use in class and at home. It is important that a student
has one of these particular models in order to facilitate classroom
learning and instruction. Each student is reminded to put her name
on her calculator. These models are approved for use on the ACT,
PSAT, SAT I, and SAT II tests in mathematics.

Attendanc
e:

Daily attendance and participation is a crucial part of the classroom

experience.
Grades in the course could be affected by excessive absences. If a
student misses a
class, it is her responsibility to get the notes for the day, and make up
any missed
work. Class materials will be posted to moodle daily. Students can
easily email their
notes to each other, so it is suggested that in the event of an absence,
students
contact a peer in class to obtain the notes.

Extra
Help:

Extra help is available periods 5* and 7 on ACE Days and periods 2, 4,

6 and 8* on BDF Days with Ms. Abell. Students can also seek
assistance in the Math Center. This schedule is posted on each math
classroom door. Students are expected to seek further

explanation of concepts, processes, and problem solving

solutions whenever necessary. Please do not hesitate to ask a
question.
*Meetings are often scheduled at this time. Please be patient and if
you know in advance you wish to meet during this time, send Ms. Abell
an email to schedule an appointment.

Assignment

n:

Quizzes:

Students will have homework after every class period. Assignments

need to be FULLY COMPLETED (each problem attempted) and ON
TIME (submitted through email prior to the start of the class period).
Late homework will earn half credit as long as it is fully completed.
Homework will not be accepted after the unit test.
Preparation for the OGT, PSAT, ACT, and SAT I is integrated throughout
the year. Homework assignments may include standardized test
questions and each test may contain multiple choice questions to
familiarize students with the standardized test format.

There will be 1-2 quizzes each chapter. All students are expected
to complete quiz corrections after graded quizzes are returned
(this gives students an opportunity to learn from their errors and to
earn up to the points missed back to their quiz score.) Quiz
corrections must be submitted prior to the unit test.

Tests:
A test will be given at the end of each chapter. There will typically be
one review day prior to each test. Each test will cover material from a
particular unit of study, but beginning with the second test,
questions from previously covered material may be included.

Grades:
Class participation, consistent and timely preparation of assignments,
and willingness to seek extra help are critical in order for students to
maximize their potential. Semester Grades are calculated in a total
points scale (total points earned divided by total possible points).
Points will be awarded using the following system:
Chapter Tests (100 pts.)
Chapter Quizzes (5- 30 pts. each)
Chapter Assignments (2-15 pts. each)
Projects (20-50 points)

Math
Integrity
Policy:

Each student is expected to complete her own assignments, although

suggestions from fellow students, the teacher, or a tutor are
permitted. Copying another students work is unacceptable.
Programming formulas or notes into a calculator is also unacceptable.
