EMERGENCY ACTION PLAN


Evacuation Information
If the need to evacuate has been signaled:
Immediately proceed to the nearest exit.
Do not use elevators! Always use the stairs!
Exit building and proceed to designated meeting place.
Assemble with people you sit near.
Check in with your team leader.
Follow directions of authorities.

Important Information:

Depending on the severity of the situation:
Contact 911 for the police.

Nearby Situation
In case of an emergency outside of the building that may have an
effect on our facility and staff (such as a nearby building fire):
Wait for instruction from Building or TFA management.
Call 911

Suspicious Person

*There is a designated fire warden for this floor who will assist in
an evacuation.

Fire
Activate the nearest fire alarm.
Evacuate the building.
Do not re-enter the building until authorized by
emergency personnel.
Help others exit the building and move to designated
evacuation areas.
DIAL 911.

Blizzard

Do not confront the person.


Do not block the persons exit.
Call Building Management at 414-283-2680
Call 911.

Suspicious Object

Do not touch or disturb object.


Call Building Management at 414-283-2680
Call 911.
Be prepared to evacuate.

Aggressive Behavior
Remain calm and discreetly try to notify someone of the situation
through any means available.

Try to be accommodating.
Do not say or do anything that might escalate the hostility.
Keep a calm, low voice and do not respond in a threatening
manner.

WINTER STORM WATCH:


WATCH Be alert. A storm is likely in your area.
Check news and weather sources.
BLIZZARD WARNING:
WARNING Take shelter. Expect blinding wind-driven snow,
deep snow drifts and a dangerous wind chill.

Send all staff home as soon as there is a blizzard warning.


Establish a check-in system for staff when they arrive home.
Check news and weather sources for evacuation information.
IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO LEAVE THE BUILDING:
Charge all cell phones and make sure fresh water, food, battery operated radios and first aid supplies are on hand.
Wait for instruction from building or TFA management.
Check news and weather sources for further information.

Depending on the severity of the situation:


Contact 911 for the police. After contacting the appropriate
authority, the staff member should then contact his/her manager or
Teach For Americas Chief People Officer.

Infrastructure Failure
In case of water, power, heat, cooling or any other facility issue
call Building Management at 414-283-2680

In case of a critical incident relating to computer systems,


call the IT Help Desk at 212.279.2080 x84357.
