Mohamadi, Ali. "U.S. Food and Drug Administration."Teens and Steroids: A Dangerous Combo.
FDA, 3 Nov. 2013. Web. 4 Apr. 2015.
Ali's article is very informational without being biased. He talks about health risks and
gains for using anabolic steroids recreational, the sale of anabolic steroids and what the FDA is doing to
prevent sale and distribution. I found the article to be very accurate to my own experiences with
steroids. He talks about the major health risks that are present with taking anabolic steroids such as
fertility problems, impotence, high blood pressure, cholesterol, heart and liver abnormalities. He makes
very clear and strong points, that aren't excessive in length and give you the jest of what he is talking
about. He states the way teens are getting steroids is so easy that even a caveman could do it. To get
steroids all you have to do is get on the internet and order some right to your doorstep. The problem
with this that when the FDA shuts down a website another one pop's up like the Immortals in 300. Most
kids have no idea what they are getting and putting into their bodies, it could be the real deal or it could
be olive oil that you are injecting like a high school wrestling team in North Dakota. Because this
article was written by an expert in the field of steroids it is a credible source.
Goldberg, Elliot. "Anabolic Steroid Abuse." What Are the Health Consequences of Steroid Abuse?
Drugabuse.gov, 12 Aug. 2013. Web. 2 Apr. 2015.
Goldberg is very against steroid use on every level. She talk's about how they are
abused, health consequences of steroid abuse and effects anabolic steroids have on behavior. I found
this article to be very interesting because of how against steroid use they are. She starts off with

explaining how people abuse steroids, there are 3 main ways. Cycling, which involve taking multiple
doses of steroids over a specific period of time, stopping for a period, and starting again. User also
stack steroids, this is when you combine several different types of steroids. This is done to get the
added benefits from different types of steroids without having to inject multiple times. Another form of
steroid abuse is pyramiding. This is a process in which users slowly escalate the amount of steroids
used (increasing the dose and frequency of one or more steroids ), reaching a peak amount at about half
way through their cycle and gradually taper the dose toward the end of the cycle. Some of the health
risks associated with taking steroids is the that the liver might develop Peliosis Hepaitis, which is when
blood-filled cysts form in the live, if these rupture it will cause internal bleeding and eventually death.
Acne, cysts and oily hair is just a few minor physical side effects. Infection is also huge in steroid use
because new users usually don't know how to inject much less inject in a sterile environment. Regular
steroid use sometimes can cause an effect on behavior called Roid Rage. Researchers conducted a
test with a group of volunteers, which they gave steroids and the other a placebo. The results show
that steroid users acted much more violently committing more crimes than they would usually do when
drug free. Extreme cases of violence and behavioral disorders seems to be low, but it may be underreported or under-recognized. Since this was written by medical doctors we can trust this source.
Phillips, Mack. "Steroids: MedlinePlus." U.S National Library of Medicine. U.S. National Library of
Medicine, 9 Oct. 2014. Web. 14 Apr. 2015.
This article talks about the benefits of taking corticosteroids for medical purposes such
as inflammation. Corticosteroids are used to treat arthritis, asthma and autoimmune diseases such as
lupus and multiple sclerosis. Even this steroid which is used by thousands still carries a list of side
effects like weight gain acne high blood sugar levels etc. For some the relief that they get from the
steroids outweighs the side effects that they may or may not get. There are multiple ways to take this
steroid but the most common is IV (intravenous). I liked this article because it showed the good side to
steroids and not bad mouthing it and shunning it from the medical community. This article was

published by a medical website and written by a doctor making this a very trustworthy source.
